Theres been a few souls brought saws around to outdo that 390 now but its kinda like huntin Bigfoot! The thrill of the hunt is good but the end result is a big letdown!!

So this 390 is undefeeted?

We hadnt ran it at a GTG or anything like that. Just playin around here and there. Im sure theres plenty of saws that would top it but it does well noodling for me. Its busted alota big rounds noodling

Thanks buddy. Thats with 404 noodling but we never really ran 3/8 buckin in about 12" wood just to see how fast it would be that I can remember?

Stills looks pretty fair with 404 IMO. Think that was fullcomp 404 but this saw seems to prefer skip alot better. Smoother and faster

I could run 404 skip square all day. Really smooth.

Ya me too buddy. The fullcomp in something like dry redoak gets really jumpy on this 390

My mdavlee 385 whooped a stock 394xp I compared it to with the same 20" bar chain by 4 seconds in a cut. It simply turns more rpms in the wood. With a long bar (32-36") I predict it would be closer, the 394 has a lot of low end grunt. A while back @Moparmyway and I compared his ported 661/394 to the 385, with a good 3/8 chain on a 24" 8 pin setup on the 385 it held its own pretty good for being down 15cc. Now when we swapped the .404 on it and same bar and chain, it got its ass kicked by the bigger saws. I think a 385 is more of a 660/460 competitor. I am going to try .404 sometime on one of my own saws, seems like it would be a lot more durable in general.
