93.00 belt my niece's husband installed
Without checking why 2 other belts failed20200705_140844_HDR.jpg 20200705_140852_HDR.jpgI suspect the pulley was separating and he didn't bother to inspect it until it finally took a *s-word.

Here's the blown up PTU from my 06 Escape Hybrid. Filled with a mix of burnt 75W140, aluminum shavings and gear chunks..

So one of my tree guys brings me a decent looking red lever 10mm 044 he recently picked up. It’s missing a few pieces but APPEARS to be a good candidate to rebuild. Piston has a little light scuffing.

I removed the cylinder and found this shady sheet......no needle bearing or wrist pin to be found. Just the piston stuffed into the cylinder. BACKWARDS!! Obviously I didn’t pull the cord before tearing it down. So I was definitely surprised.

Did a little sanding to see where we’re at. It doesn’t look good. Yes, you can catch a finger nail on the gouges. Damn shame. I have no idea what he paid for it. I have a hard time wrapping my head around someone doing Shady sheet like this.

I’ve got a decent non decomp jug, but it’s not a slant fin Don’t know what he wants to do yet.

Indeed a shame.
10mm 044's seem to be more rare as the days go on.
What does the rest of the saw look like?

Did the saw have wood screws scattered throughout the plastic? If so i had it brought to me a few months back. I saw the wood screws in the plastics and holding the muffler on and kindly declined to touch it.

Nope. Looked like a nice dusty barn find. Everything that is still there is period correct or original to the saw. Fuel tank has been replaced at some time (Flippy cap) but has the original zama carb (no snorkel)

10-4. A guy from your area has one riddled with wood screws, if it happens to make it your way

Unfortunately a 10mm piston needs to be OEM to be safe. The 12mm bosses are .080” wider. Maybe someone here has some first hand experience with this. I’ll error on the side of caution. Yes, Meteor does make a 10mm but the pin bosses are wider. Same casting as a 12mm just bored to 10mm. I Just can’t slap a band aid on it for a customer that uses it daily tho. 10mm on the right.
