I'm quite happy with this thing now. And that adhesive didn't budge.
Here's a video of it in a smaller log as an original 357xp...ported:

Here's the before port job video of it with the 272xp cylinder:

Here's the after video:

Damn I want one now! Where do I sign up?

How much difference is there between the stihl piston you used and a reguler 272 piston? What piston are you putting in next?

The 272 piston can't be used because it has too large of pin size at 13mm. The 046 piston I'm running in it is old and worn and I'm replacing it with the ms460 piston which is the same thing. I wanted to see how the build would turn out before spending money on a new piston.

Thanks Jim, looks like I gotta order a new meteor piston.

I have a new Meteor Stihl 460 piston, I did not have time to work on it after I found it was too long, but I would like how much clearance a piston needs at the bottom, I will measure it up later. thanks

Those measurements are spot on. I don't remember relieving any part of the case or piston to clear. If the cylinder isn't aligned perfectly then it'll allow the piston to touch. I made each side of the collar thinner to fit the case and I made sure I took an even amount from both sides to stay straight.

Thanks Jim, the piston hits even without the cyl. on there, no matter how I wiggle it, I'm not concerned with this as I can just trim the piston but how much does it need to safely clear .010 .020 .030?
I don't quite have the cyl. down on there yet but getting close, I took both sides of the cyl. skirt down evenly but I have more to do there, the original cyl. had about .025 slop in the case, I'm not going to leave near that much. Which base gasket did you use.

I believe I used a piece of thin paper to give the gasket maker something to bond to since each side at the transfers are so thin.
You should consider any clearance work to be done at the case for the piston unless you have measured and have enough skirt to spare to avoid freeporting at the exhaust.
The amount of clearance should be enough to where it doesn't touch when you rotate the crank. The parts don't flex or travel beyond the distance you see when turning it by hand unless a bearing is bad.
