I'm rebuilding a Husqvarna 350 for a friend and was just wanting opinions on whether it's okay to install the cylinder without the base gasket. I ordered one but when it arrived it was broken and I'm not wanting to wait for another one to get here. I have some Motoseal and was wondering if I could just use it. If it was mine I'd not even ask, I'd just use the sealer and forget about it...

Yes, I intend to check the squish. I think I can find a piece of solder...

I suspect you'll find around .030 squish even without the gasket with the 45mm top end. I have taken .010 off of the top of the bearing cup on the ones I've done.

I'd like to hear a little more about this.
I gave a 350 to a friend that has one.
Plan is for the two to become one.

Nice feature of this model, instead of spinning the jug you can set the cup up on the mill to set squish.

I bought a new top end for this saw, not an OE so it's hard telling what the squish is. Wife's got me working on household stuff right now but I hope to get back to the saws shortly. I think I'll try the gasket delete since it takes awhile to get them by the mail and it might just add a little to the performance..

Hopefully you have a flat top piston for it too. If by "OE" you mean OEM then I have no clue what you might get. Those things are an absolute dice roll.

The kit I bought has a flat top piston and will replace a dished one that was on it..My reference to OE was to mean original equipment..
