OK three more chain tests from yesterday - we are cutting in 8x8 soaking wet heavy ass fresh cut cottonwood and the times are a little faster than the prior tests in dry poplar.
I will post up the chain pic for the JR2 chain soon, Cole will have to post up close up chain pics of the other two chains as they are chains he brought along.
cut times: 1 sec, .93, .9

cut times: 1.03 sec, 1, 1

cut times: .9sec, .9, .87
I like the JR 2.

Just send it on down Dave..

You got my address.

Even work saws have been known to have a muffler mod where you can see piston without removing.
Was done on my ole practice saw and would do it different today.
Suked in a long bucking cut on dry wood area.

But most racesaws are wide open mufflers. Should have seen the muffler made up for my 3120 piped saw. For when it was raced in the open muffler class.
Was genius work by Cliff. Have seen a couple guys over the years come up with same idea since then.

Pic of ole practice saw muffler pic to show new owner.

@Moparmyway Freeze it and might see a outer part. ;) Inner part was the stuff I was talking about to meet up with the big azz O block. Can see the block behind pipe in pic.
Not the bs like seen on another saw. ;)

Flush clears out after 1st cut. Muffler on pipe saw.

Not even a race chain on it. Dubbed up corner chain I had on hand to test saw with.

Nice. Regular fuel or Alky?

If asking me. This one was on alky/nitro with about 8 other ingredients.
Around $30 a gal back in 2010.

I gave 5 gallons to the guy that bought my 166 hotsaw, 166 practice saw, 5ci and 3ci. He ask me price on fuel. I was like you buying all these saws you can have. Many Thanks

Phil Helsel cut a 2.30 3 cuts in 8x8 aspen cold start racing last year. Figure that up. ;) Subtract time to wood, change overs. Then you get time per cut. I know what they are and what they are to wood and with change overs. It's fing crazy fast.

I'd still be trying to get to the wood. :risas3:
I seen where I stood. So I gave it up and perfect timing for me. Son started varsity football that 10th grade year so I sold it all.

I was told I could get another Helsel saw if I wanted this year . I said I would just piss myself now days starting it and try to hold on. :(

I think I know how he does it, I've got one of mine 1/2 way completed, just trying to get time to complete the welding for the inside part, then weld it to the can

OK. My dealers don't even know what square chain is, so they are out up here. Lol
Go figure. That's sound about right. I am sure most dealers and most all of their employees have never heard of it unless they are in a region where it's commonly used for work chain or they have ties to a saw site. How many people on this thread were introduced to it from being on a saw site?

No sir. You usually get what you pay for. Lol [emoji106]
Right so pay $130 per box of files. Can't expect much for $100. lol

Really shouldn't matter. Comes down to knowing your product line and staying current. If your company sells a product, then you should know about it if your work for them.

Levi and I practiced cold start the other day..

Let’s just say it’s gonna be tough to ever get close to what Phil is at getting to the wood. He’s slick.

Oh for sure. I'm just talking about whomever it is that does the chain buying for the shop should have at least seen Square chisel on line or in chain pamphlets sent to them but they don't stock it for 'Joe shmoe and his chainsaw' so therefore "The saw shop has never heard of it" Meaning all employees likely haven't heard if it. I have worked on the same jobs with thousands of Interior Fallers and saw hands over the years in north BC & Alberta in all activities and there is not to many of then would have ever heard of it either.
Its just a Coast Faller chain out that way.
Only reason I ever heard of semi skip was from reading stuff send to a buddy for his saw shop. It's just not promoted in any regions I worked. I don't know all the prefix letters to the chains I used either? I just say...may I have another chain please?
