Oooooohhhh. Sexay lol
When the tune changes as you cut when it gets hot. If you were running it buried in cuts several in a row and it didn't you're good to go.I was expecting that yesterday,
But how much is hot?
This thing has me a bit baffled. Ebay walbro 198, no mods with the blue diaphragm. ??
1 turn out on low 7/8 on the high side. Idles great.
Must be a fluke...
Nice work!
I fine the 346 needs no more than 190-200 psi.
Just got a couple oem 346 top ends for $105 each. So will be building another one soon.
What about popups?

OEM P&C kits. The price right now is ridiculously low.Piston and cylinder kit or just the cylinder?
I've done 4-5 saws without a degree wheel, the timing numbers are already good on the 346 & 357 . Two 346s' I did pop ups on and they haul ass! That's what I would try to avoid. I'm not confident enough in my porting. I wanna bump compression without having to adjust the ports. I may be asking for too much. I assume that if I did a popup right the only port timing I would really be changing is intake duration.

One interesting thing about the 346 Randy did. With .325 chain it would 4 stroke in the cut, had to push pretty hard to get it to clean up and it was tuned right. That is showing some power right there! It now wears 3/8-18" and is the saw I grab most often.
I've put a 346 top on a 350 recently, all I did to it was have the base cut to get it to .020. It's now pulling 170 psi. It's a bad little saw too. I wanna do another one. But I was thinking of doing something different, and get my compression closer to 200

.325x7... It didn't 4 stroke as much in the cut with .325x8 & cut faster. But 3/8x7 is what it likes best..325x7 or 8?
I am going to do a comparison today with this 346.
16" 3/8×7 vs 18" .325×7 vs 18" .325×8
I believe my saw will have the same problem with the .325x7.
The videos in this thread are all with .325 x8.
.020" off the piston & .035" off the jug will give ya no squish, unless you use a gasket? Should be right on .020" squish with a gasket?I may try it, what would you all start with. .020 popup. I've already checked squish without a gasket and it's at .015. So I if I went with a .020 popup I would assume that I would need to deck the jug .035 to get it where I want it.
