Marco stuff that's affordable is almost all outsourced. I'm not saying they're bad, but most can be had for half the money from other sources.
I have a set of those long HF wrenches you have, I like em too. Might buy a set of metric ones next time I'm there.

There are at least 5 sets in our shop and only one broken since I started in 2014

I have a bunch of that Pittsburgh stuff in my truck. I use the stuff more than the ones at home really. They never have failed. I found one of those big pittsburgh screwdrivers one time that somebody had tossed. They broke the end off, probably using it as a pry bar. But I got it and took it to a HF place and they said go get another one. The bad thing about my Craftsman tools is if you break one now it will be replaced by a Chinese one. That's where they are made now. If you will notice the price on craftsman tools are cheaper than they used to be.

Craftsman has went downhill recently I agree. I would use a pass thru socket set daily. They seem so handy. But I'm a cheap ass so I haven't bought a set of them yet.

When I worked at the Dealership, I accumulated mostly Snap On because:
a. It was convenient: pay a weekly rate and get what you need.
b. A lot of the Chinese stuff at the time wasn't holding up. Sunnex sockets got big later on and are an exception to that rule.
c. When I went to working out of a service truck, I did not have the luxury of using someone else's stuff if mine broke during the day/night.

From reading this thread, I gather the Chinese tools have come along way in the last 10 years.
Taiwan made is generally better than China crap.

My wife laughed at me the other day, We was coming home and I seen a craftsman ratchet on the side of the road. I told her and turned around and she asked how you know it was a craftsman? Just seen a bunch of them and sure enough it was a 3/8 drive craftsman ratchet. It was one of the newer ones. it don't have USA on it.

The best ratchet available at this time is the new Snapon fine tooth offering. They are very very nice. IMHO ... The best for the money are the new HF red handle ones. They are a Taiwanese offering. They are also almost exactly 1/10th the price of snapon. I am also very cheap so I have the latter.
As lone wolf said, Taiwan has upped their game and is putting out some great tools. Gearwrench is another example of a Taiwanese tool co.

I grew up on craftsman tools. Now, for my hands sake, I don't even use new sockets from sears. They break more frequently than any other brand.

The snap on ratchets are nice, but dang they should be. 135 bucks for a 3/8 drive is ridiculous.

I just got the Snap on FL80 long 3/8 ratchet. Now I want the extra long handle one. You cant go wrong with the Gearwrench stuff either.

These are a couple of my older ratchets, a JH Williams on the left and Proto on the right. I have a Craftsman that is very similar to the Proto.

I have that proto in a long handle. Found it in the trash and got a rebuild kit from my old Mac man. I love it.
