Which 70cc plus saw would you buy?

He's becoming quite the Jonsered man now, which we all know is just a gateway drug into Husqvarna.

At least on the stihl side of things.

Nothing wrong with some diversity in the lineup.

Previous owners name was up next day to have that saw ported anyway. Worked out perfect for both of us because I got a saw out of the shop that had been there a bit waiting for me

Since we are talking about 70cc saws, I am looking at buying a carb for for one or both of my 044's. Would it be worth moving up to a HD16 on a muff modded saw?

Which 70cc plus saw would you buy? Of the current offerings, what would you choose and why? I’d prefer auto tune or mtronic as I’d like to just add fuel and go. Likely will leave stock and run it out of the box as my go to saw between my 261cm arctic and my 395xp.

im out of the loop as I’ve been distracted for the last 4 years raising my girls on my own. They are doing great by the way. Now 12 and 13. Turning into beautiful young ladies.

Glad you are doing well and your girls. I have a ported 572 and a stock 500I. Have not had out of the box experience on the 572. But I've logged many many hours on a 461. Be between those 3 for me. Because all three are rugged, have great maneuverability. Better AV mounts with the newer technology. I feel any one of those three you can't go wrong. With the 500I being the most expensive in my area. The 500I for me out of the box had the most wow factor, with the 461 close, the 461 woke up with a bark box. I put one on my 500 too. But that @Stump Shot built 572 has really become a favorite to me. Running those three saws, honestly my 390, 394 and even 2101 collect dust now. The smaller three I run 32 inch bars on and cut anything. The other bigger saws I just throw big bars on for big big stumps or really big bucking needs.

I own and/or use all of the Stihls on this list...no experience with the 572(it's almost all Stihls around here except those of us with 372s.) I'll echo what most have already said and say that the 462 or 572 would be the best bet for the OP. The 462 will work with a 28" in hardwoods, although it requires a light touch. I really appreciate the weight of the 462, as I'm limited to what I can hike with at work. It's light enough that I can easily brush/limb with it, yet enough power for falling decent sized trees. I run a 28" lwb on it; mostly deal with conifers, but occasionally cut oak, madrone, walnut, etc.

Doug fir, probably in the 80-100yo range. There were some fun trees at that site, some warranted my 066 w/36" bar.
