I think it's hard to go wrong with a modern 70cc+ saw ,( I have no experience with the new Echos) . The MS500i definitely has a wow factor with the fuel injection, by far one of the best felling saws I will ever likely use for work, ( she's a thirsty girl though!) . 592xp is one of the smoothest saws I use and far exceeded my expectations.
Really I think it's also great to swing some old pro saws too, for all the magic and hype around carburetored modern saws the 70s saws will drop alot of trees the same. I've used an old Pro Mac or Homelite to cut alot of timber.
