I was just looking to add a 70cc saw to complement my 362c. I was thinking about the Echo 7310PW and I almost dropped the phone when he gave me the price of $1800ish. My local Stihl dealer is selling the 462 about $1400 and the 500i $1800.
I know Echo makes good profit, but their cost has skyrocketed.

I don’t think it is an Echo thing…sounds like a greedy dealer. Safford Equipment has the 7310 listed here with a 32” bar:

Find another dealer. They’re hosing you.

Thanks for the help! I had a feeling it was way overpriced. The deal said that Echo was better than the other two, which justified its cost.

That makes more sense. $1800 Canadian is roughly $1330 US. Considering taxes and adding a bar, the price isn’t way out of line, though still high. And the 7310 being better than the competition…well…

I do agree with current exchange rates, but that is $1800 + 13% = $2034.

I can purchase a 500i or 661 for less.

Im going to see if I can get a part time position working at the shop. I’m retired and it would just be fun for me and add some spending cash for more chainsaws.

I have thought of getting a ported 372 or 572. My reasoning with another stihl is I already have a 16, 20 and 24 B&C for the 362 so being interchangeable with another power head is a big bonus.
I originally wanted a Husky 562 MKii but they are still not available, at least not where I am and the dealer is having parts supply issues with them.
I prefer the low grunt of the Husky over the high revving Stihl simply because I’m used to running Husky. I really like the 362c it just cuts different, not bad, just different.

The husky’s I’ve bought new I just ask for a 20” or 24” bar in .050 so I can run the same chain.
If your part of Ontario looks like mine though I have way more/better Stihl dealers then Husqvarna, I love my husky’s but having to order in stuff like air filters sucks

I’m in the TBay area. I have one dealer that carries both Husky and Stihl, another that is phasing Husky out and one that only deals Echo.

Everything up here is like the Truck market. Due to location, it’s a “pay what I ask” or go somewhere else. A friend saved $10k by getting his truck in the GTA.

$1400 is par for a 462 here 572’s are about the same so 12hrs south you wouldn’t save anything in this case.
What do you have for wood up there? I cut up in timmins to clear a 5 acre lot for my friends parents and it seemed to be mostly white birch, pine and spruce, not much over 14”

I have Pine, Poplar, Sugar Maple, Birch a few Cedars and Oak on my property. I’d say 90% hardwood on my 20 acre property. It’s never been touched other than clearing for the house.
