Most around here buy a saw at the big box store if they've ever bought a saw at all. Won't find anything that looks like a 288xp there. Unless they are a farmer, then they usually have a larger saw laying around in the corner of the barn covered in bar oil and dirt that somehow still runs.

One tree guy I fix saws for actually has real chainsaws, a 395, 550xp, 346xp, 576xp, 372,t540,357xp... Actually nice to meet someone here who don't have a ms 290 like 99% of people who live in ct lol. I would think a tree service would have good saws....

All this reminds me if a coworker that ask me why I needed a saw that big a ( j red 670) I told him it was cheaper than buying a big screen tv and getting fat.

Exactly! Fear and jealousy both come forward in the same manner; "What the hell do you need that giant thing for?!?!?"

I tell people that ask me that "anything I want." It did backfire on me though, when I asked why the logs in a wood delivery were so large, the reply was, "you have a big saw".

I feel I'll be asked more often now for "the big stuff"

This is how I get most of my firewood. A tree gets nibbled at until the small stuff is gone and they can't handle the big sections

Just don't let em see you quartering down those big rounds with the saw or you'll lose out on your free wood! ;)
Let 'em try. Tell me you can count how many times you've gone to a shared pile and seen incomplete cuts where someone has given up. Usually after a real long cut that curves sharply to one side.
