dave im not arguing with you i dont run a bigger bar than a 25 on my hybrid or 046 usually have a 20 on the hybrid
I know your not brother. I'm sure the oiler is ok for a 28" bit I don't think a bar would have a long life.

Your average logger has no idea how to mod a oil pump on a saw.

Falling white oak takes a lot more oil or its constantly chip bound and the chain is matted over and dry ass a bone.

A 394/5 is the only saw I've ran that will oil a 36" like I think it should be oiled.

In big white oak timber a 460 won't oil a 25" that's why nobody uses one here.

A 066 will oil a 36" a 660 barely does though
Last i knew they use the same pump ,should oil the same 660 and 460 ,the wrap saws come with the good oilers stock .
As long as the adjustment screw looks like letter T it has the good oiler

I agree, mine will run a 42" with the oiler at about 3/4

I have a nice running 044 hybrid here and a 28 and 32" 404 bars.
Want to see it in hardwood?
White oak is white oak and should for the most part, cut the same. 150 year old 33" wood or 300 - 350 year old 60" stuff should be the same unless east coast white oak is harder than the west coast stuff.

That stuff is Styrofoam, we'll the chips & noodles are anyway. Cedar makes a nice bed or pillow stuffing. The trees themselves, while certainly much softer than oak or maple, are hard enough that I'd prefer not to have to use a misery whip on them., especially the big un's.

Yep and you need a saw that oils to bore grade white oak or you will have a long day.

There's a reason every logger runs a big saw regardless of what length bar.

If something goes wrong cutting down a big tree and you need to push can you with a 044 and a 32" or even a 28" for that matter.

A 044 with a 24" bar falling here wouldn't last a few months.

I can put a 33" tsumura lw 404 on a 044 hybrid right now and it would cut wood and maybe oil it enough to get by blocking up firewood but if you had 50 big oaks to fall and top today would that be the saw you pick?
Wouldn't be mine

My 44 has a hard time oiling a 25"

A 066 will oil a 36" a 660 barely does though

Some of this can be corrected by enlarging the oil hole on the bar: Stihl bar oil holes are known for being undersized.

I was running 36" full comp 3/8" on my 660 before swapping over to 404", & noticed a considerable difference between the Stihl ES & Sugi bars.

I then modded my Stihl bars to oil as good as my Sugi does, & Viola. [emoji1303][emoji1303]
