A 10mm 044 built by Ben Olsen was my favorite, until a tree crushed it. After a tear down inspection, the porting looked terrible, no idea how it ran that good.

Using a 440 built by Mike Lee now, pulls a 28" with 8 pin great. I'd like to try a ported 461 one day..

461 are pretty awesome. That 440 was a great runner too.

Welcome to the site of the Deplorable s! Hope you enjoy it here, sounds like you have a real nice saw, 044/440 are my favorite. That said, the ported 046/460s pull a little harder (but weight more). Seems like some of the builder have recently discovered how to get all the power of a ported 460 in a 440 hybrid (440 bottom end, 460 jug), so I'm having one built! IMO, they are close to the ultimate saw. There is nothing lighter out there that will out run them!

Brian has Been around since the mid 2000s. Had a bunch of cool saws at one time. Dave Neiger 660, timber wolf 026 and a few others I can't remember right now.

My fav in the 70 cc would be the Stihl 038 mag .It's my favorite of all the Stihl saws actually .
Does the triple port muffler still make it stock?

German engineers were not concerned with breathing fresh air from a Max Flow.
We all know the 038 filtration was a failure.

044 saw has the power and lighter weight than the 038 torque monster.
Since the dual port muffler,,, Randy put his fingers in it, Wow!

Thanks, looks like the best place for saw guys. As Mike mentioned, I love running saws. I've had several 044/046/440/460 saws, never tried a 440/460 hybrid but read long ago they were a match made in Heaven. I'm pretty sure I have a spare 460 cylinder in the stash, will think about it.

I bought a 084 one time that I believe was done by DN, it had a muffler and pipe. I found out quick that was a beast, it ripped but too much for my needs. Can't remember who I sold it to. The TW 026 pipe saw screams, need to dust it off. He made a good chain for it, IIRC I got one from DC too, amazing chain work in those.
