Yes, the exhaust, about £6 from huzlt inc postage, i just fitted it on. I did stock up on starter pawls and a few other things while I was shopping.

I had a look last night at where the fuel is leaking, it seems like I pinched the fuel line a bit and that helped it unseat a bit , I’ve got to have a look and see if I have a spare somewhere. I dont want to pull it out and find out I’d be wasting my time putting it back in if there is anything else wrong.

I leaned the saw out a little bit this afternoon but it’s still fat thou. And I did forget the tacho :BangHead: again..
Fitted an older Oregon chain as I didn’t want to ruin that stihl chain anymore. , the Oregon is abit aggressive (rakers set just below softwood setting) I stuck it into that same wood (horse chestnut/sycamore?) I have vids uploading. I'll let you guess what happenso_O

@MG porting. I think your right about not teasing the saw anymore. I will let it bed in :)

You need to put a bit more load on that saw. A 2 foot bar and bigger wood might have it running clean in the cut without four stroking.
Bear in mind that duromatics run hotter than rollomatics. I wouldn't cut a hell of a lot of wood with it on an 044. I might maybe on an old 41AV, but not my 044 ;) But I likes to look after mah O'FoFos.

This is the modified front port I was talking about. It is basically flush with the cover on the inside now, so no lip to get in the way of the exhaust.

Got it running for a third heat cycle. She's way rich here.

ETA - she does sound as sharp and loud as you think - that thing has 8* of timing advance over stock. I doubt she's gonna wanna run that way since I can already tell the new piston is giving me higher compression than before.

I see the width of the front port, looks to be twice as wide as mine. ;)

Do you know what 8* was on the key. It’s cos I got a bunch of keys,, and the first one I filed I ended up 30thou, so I put it back in the packet and filed another, which I filed less aggressive (new file) and up at 19. So I could pop the 30thou in...:) and test.. yeh I should throw it in and test, I can just pop it out if it bites to much or pops to much.

I have a vid of 25” bar and a bit of oak with a little less H jet and no burbling :) But no chugging when I lean on the dawgs :(...

There just huzlt keys I got :risas3:

Cost more to post than to buy. ;) I think I got 4 or 5 ( I stocked up in case I fudged one or they pinged into outta space).
I did say I stocked up on pawls unstuffs,
Carb kits was the other but not the fuel lines.

Saying that I have not noticed fuel leaking since I re seated the carb and noticed the pinched fuel line.

I got the heated handles working... but I can also say I really notice the vibes in the handles,,, compared to a few other saws I have..
It’s right the av rubbers go hard over time and the result is more hand vibes. ? I know others have said China rubber is harder than oem...and more vibes... so I’m guessing i should have changed the av”s:rolleyes:

So more stuffs to do :zpong:

Yes the AM mounts are a little bit stiffer than OEM but I've been noticing that they start getting a little softer in time.

I popped the 30thou key into it.. that aggressive 18” chain on the duromatic scared me..

And I swapped over to the 25” I think I need to give the chain & rakers a bit of love

That's gotta be a tough piece of beech since it's right where it's bifurcated. SHe sounds good. I have a laminated version of that bar. It's light and lasts pretty well.

BTW, I realised I hadn't changed the fuel in my 044 since I last used it. That was 3 months ago! So I'll pop some fresh 95 octane 33:1 mix in it tomorrow and see if it will go to max rpm without detonating once warmed up.

I found it very interesting what Scott was saying about the air filter setup in those saws, and that he said same part I was talking about being the bottleneck...I will have to wait for my hd filters. I guess It will be in the new yr when they arrive.
I’ve been musing that the intake should be a few * more than my 72/73 or whatever it was..seems like 76\77* is the way.... hopefully some one will confirm in a 10mm porting x3 vid soon ;).. or I just may have to ask him or someone else...o_O

Ahh thanks for the link... I had read that while heatiny my cases... then it got lost/mixed up with all the other stuffs...
Two things I’ve got from these vids ( 12mm bottom end and a 440 top end, (not the same as mine)) and the 3x 10mm 044..(same as mine) both say ditch the old carb and go hd 15 with hd air defilther. I got an Am carb, and hd air defilther on the way. sorry I’m cheap:cool:

Scott says about case size old 10mm and 12mm are different.. others have said when they fit 12mm crank in a 10mm case, some need more taking out. Well I measured the clearance in my 10mm crank and case, it was 30thou... I was surprised.

Randy don’t say what he took of the key :(
And the numbers are 78 on intake and other stuffs (see pic).... anymore intake and it’s glugging fuel.. well I thought it was already @72*\74*

I guess I got a little work to do:rolleyes: In the new yr.and . hopefully after mr TM works on those 3x044s :D
Either way, I agree, mine is coming along nicely...
