My point Dustin is that you need to take that tach and throw it to the side. It's good as a reference to know what your saws are tuning but I wouldn't use one to tune a modded saw. You leave too much on the table by tuning a saw with a tach to an rpm someone else told you worked for there's. Even if a saw is ported with the same numbers they may tune to a different rpm. Think outside the box man and you'll be suprised at what you'll find.

Tore this all the way down for cleaning and inspection...
Seals are good and still pliable, press/vac tested good.
Impulse line was cracked and dry rotted at the nipple and ready to leak...

I will agree with the camp that says tuning the saw in the cut is the best way to compare, but if you don't have a ton of time or wood, it is sometimes just not practical.

Tuning a saw till it 4 strokes just a bit out of the wood, and cleans up in the wood will usually provide close to the best tune. Yea I have one saw that likes being a bit lean, and one that likes being a bit rich, but this tuning method will get you close, and IMO is not a bad way to compare a change like a muff mod.

I think you gotta put a 36” on with a 8 pin and a big piece of wood to really load the saw and video it so you can time them.

Mason, what I really want, and expect, is it to pull a 36" with authority with a 7 pin.

You ran the Twin at NY GTG, and it was the 3rd fastest saw you videoed, only being beat by fully ported saws of equal or greater size. In fact, it was 25% faster than the muffler modded 461 you really liked.

That is not bad at all for a < $300 saw!

Yeah for 300$ it’s amazing the power they have. I’m just hoping the rest of aftermarket brands gets better tooling and quality control like meteor. Aftermarket is usually a upgrade over oem for automotive stuff....why can’t this apply to saws? I’m guessing it boils down to money and profits aren’t as high.

The twin is ported Mike. Albeit a factory port, but ported nonetheless.
Lots of work went into those.

Jeff, when you mass produce a P+C to be bolted on to any saw, compromises must be made, it is far different than having a specific saw on you bench and getting everything right. Also, you can buy the P+C for about 1/3 the cost of a port job, and it often replaces damaged parts.

That said, they are a good deal stronger than stock, and I'm very happy with the performance.

I would call them "Performance Enhanced"!

Mason, they have all kinds of customized mufflers for sale on ebay. Most of us just prefer to drill our own holes.
