Nice! Looks pretty good still...

We finished fourth in our den...
Top three were in the top five of the whole pack...

They "bought" their cars.... Wheels, axles, tungsten dome weights... right down to the pre-cut block cars...
Private school with some very well to do folks...

My son and I spent time together working on it, the way it was meant to be!!
(Except a bunch of time polishing axles!!!)

Kids and I built a bunch over the years between Church and Scouts! First was my oldest Daughter when she was about 8 or 9. She placed at church and then won 1st place at districts. We built it together and she knew what we did and why we did it. After the race when she got her trophy they asked her what made her car so fast? She said I don't know....? When I asked her why she said that her answer was....Dad I don't want to give away our secrets! Lol!

Good on ya! Time well spent with the kiddos.

I used to love pinewood derby. We started when I was a Tiger Cub (1984) and stopped ‘competing’ when I became a Boy Scout. I then assisted with all the competitions and did ‘judging’ as well as pre/post race inspections until I left Scouting. I’ll be honest; I miss it!

They made a big stink about what was legal and not...
Then sent emails about how it was all about the kids...

Then absolutely nothing was inspected...

All from the dad with the fastest car...

Lol...

I remember graphite not being allowed, brass or bronze bushings in the wheels were a strict violation, reducing wheel diameter was a no-no, adding length was prohibited, changing axle location was prohibited, weights were very specific in type and overall weight was closely inspected. I kept extra stick on weights for the kids whose car was on the hairy edge or failed for being too light so they could still compete. Better to have a helping hand in tech inspection than to have to sit out the races.

Sometimes I just got to shake my head and laugh at my older self.
Setting up poulan 380 60cc with 24" 84dl 3/8 today. Well I grabbed a stock 330 54cc by mistake and started test cutting with the 24" full skip square filed chain in the cuts. Buried in dry ash log.
Well I thought man this ported 60cc is maxed out. Then I looked at cylinder and went DOH! I was doing this with a stock 54cc 330.
The 380 has a 330 recoil cover on it still too. But missing some bars.
Put 24" on 60cc and that was more like what I was expecting. No troubles with bar buried in cuts.

I am going to rebuild a good looking 044 12mm and was wondering if the OEM slug and jug is worth the extra $85 or would the Meteor kit be sufficient. I guess what im asking is will I be happy with the AM stuff or should I go OEM.

I snagged a Husqy 240e for $5. Needed fuel lines and primer bulb. The clutch cover and muffler are missing but it fired right up with new fuel lines and filter. (No i didn’t run it long)

So reading reviews online it looks like an underpowered BigBox Store turd. Any suggestions on how to “hot rod” this little junk a little bit? Its a 38 cc saw. What kind of fun can we have with it?

Not sure if its like a 41, but a fish gill type quick muff mod yielded a 15% gain

I ordered a brand new OEM muffler for $13. The plan was to give it a little mod.

Any suggestions for a p/c swap? I was going to pull the cyl and see if there is any “porting” to be done to try to give it a little more grunt.
