Friend owns a tree service and backed over 540 with Cat Backhoe. Picked up other 540 from local junk pile, no compression, straight gassed. Waiting for new ring and gasket. Hope to make one running 540 out of two. Gives a different meaning to bucket saw. 540's are his most used saws, then 562's, IMG_7719.JPG IMG_7720.JPG 576's and 394.

China 440 on the bench.

I think huztl put the wrong bearing on the pto side. It's too thick....10mm inner race vs 9mm. Hopefully this solves the e clip mystery.

Swapped out the farmertech top end for hyway...and did a little poor man's porting on it. Didn't need much unlike the ft. Simple base gasket delete and some reshaping of the ports. Transfers were weird.....fixed. timing at 100 115 79

What killed this saw???

Pressure test ok. Gas is blue.

Ran 2 hours...then scored. Bolts tight. Base gasket pulled in half when I removed the head.

Is the intake boot thingy warped enough to cause a leak??

Why the score to one side of the head?
