Did it pass a vac test before tearing it back down or just after the build? I would have vac/pressure tested again before tearing it back down. Probably would have found the problem...unless it was indeed straight gassed. Blue gas now doesn't mean blue gas then..., unless of course you were the one who filled the tank and was running it when it burned up. Out of curiosity, did you vac/pressure test with the intake bulkhead in place?

Yes....passed pressure and vac before teardown

Tree guy running a bunch of my saws...rest of them are fine. Doesn't look like straight gas to me.

Best I can come up with....
Carb issue?
Boot grabber thingy warped
Short fuel line...filter was hanging mid air

Finished a stock rebuild on a nice 346 meteor and all new lines.
Breaking it in now trying it against my 261 and 490 rippy little saw.
I prefer the 261 though all good 50cc 20170831_191034.jpg 20170831_191051.jpg 20170831_191003.jpg saw's.

What was it you wanted to know on the crank? I found a few.

Did it pass a vac test before tearing it back down or just after the build? I would have vac/pressure tested again before tearing it back down. Probably would have found the problem...unless it was indeed straight gassed. Blue gas now doesn't mean blue gas then..., unless of course you were the one who filled the tank and was running it when it burned up. so I really can't figure it out. I put a different p&C on the saw ... had a hyway sitting around so I used that. base gasket delete. swapped out the boot, carb, fuel line and filter. I'm convinced the seals are holding pressure. ....if it burns up again I'll swap those of course.

I think the dangling fuel line was likely the issue. the filter was literally hanging in mid- air. and the filter fell off when I touched it.

Was the tune messed with? Possibly tuned too lean?

I think the fuel filter being in bad position leaned it out. ...that and possibly the boot holder thingy was warped enough to cause a leak between the boot and carb.

i don't think it was tuned too lean... and the gas inside the carb was indeed blue.

The 100ll avgas I use is blue when I get it from the airport pump.

image.jpeg I had a extra 395 carb laying around and a sporty 2171 with 51.4 mm top end I messed with the porting a little and it's only running top ring :), so I decided to mess with it more. Can't even see the Zama under that Wj115. image.jpeg It's tight but it all fits... 385 air filter adaptor, cut off the choke holder on the filter mount, trim and rotate the 372 boot, and reroute the 372 throttle cable hole in carb base, along with recessing/trimming the plastic back throttle cable holder back so it returns to idle. Longer 395xp carb bolts have to be used. All oem husqvarna parts. The choke still works. Ran it in a few small pieces of wood and it tunes great, I have it at 13.5 and its fat. We'll see how it really runs when I get a chance to run it at work. image.jpeg

Got a br420 for a friend at a pawn shop for $40. Mostly complete and cranks! I do have a question though what is this plug on the fan? Doesn't seem to serve any purpose that I can figure out.

That is the same fan housing used on the sr420 sprayer. That's where the connection would be made from the reservoir.

Oh ok thanks! Me and my friend were scratching our heads as to why it was there.
