I cut down a brand new never used driveline, I borrowed the shorter one from a coworker to serve as a starting point.

This much off to make the driveline fit.
Yeah, I cut it three times rather than cutting off too much at once.
Pictured is just the outer driveline shaft, I cut outer & inner shaft, and outer & inner guard tube three times.

Just ran my 041 Super in some large pieces of pine. I’m pretty dang impressed. The thing just keeps chugging. It’s not too bad on vibration, and it’s built like a tank. I kind of like the fact that it isn’t super pretty. Maybe I’ll keep it around as a powerful old beater. Cost me practically nothing.

Not pretty means less chance of it being stolen.

This one has a long history, as a 242 collector there are two I don't have, KS top end and Gilardoni 241B top end.
I had one with 241B, my friend was really keen on it, after much if and but I gave it to him as a gift, I had spent 5 years hunting down exactly that one. Later he traded it away for something else, and I was really disappointed.

So, I got hold of another one after a few years of searching, this ome is from year 1995, but I've had it in a box for quite a few years, something around 3-4 years.
Now it was time to swap wear parts and a simple porting, it got the original exhaust, a cat with most of the inside removed afterwards and the project is finished.
This one will stay with me!

Needs a couple of decals, but that will be another search.

In stock version I think 241B was the best, but all XP Mahle versions were also very good. If I had to choose between them I would probably say 241B.
The one, I have only seen two of them, KS, is the one I think is of the lowest quality, at least when it comes to port qualities.

MS462 V1 See if you can spot what went wrong. I spun a hone in the cylinder a little and it actually would clean up above the exhaust port once some of the damaged material is removed during porting. It may sit in a box till I have time to port it and drop the cylinder a little.

Finally gonna start a 2100 build. I have 2 nearly complete saws to play with so will be grabbing parts from whichever box is needed. I started cleaning stuff today that hadn’t been done yet. Completely disassembled 2 tanks to pick the best one.
Stay tuned.
This will be using an oe jug with thin ring nos piston.
Paint prep, parts sorting, some cleaning...

Has anyone tried painting the plastics?
I have the Husqvarna paint.

I got it together. The bearings have a teeny tiny bit of radial play. I read some conflicting opinions regarding the amount of acceptable radial play on these roller bearings. I’m going to run it and see if they tighten up with a bit of run time. I might just tear it down again and do bearings anyways though. It wasn’t too bad to put together. The only thing else that I need is the throttle rod… lol. It sucks to have it all done and just be missing one single, vital, component.

I did my 1st piston swap today. I did it on a Husqvarna 261with a 262xp meteor piston/caber ring. Modded the oem muffler after soaking in evaporust and painting by opening up the side holes under the screen also enlarged the hole behind the front mounting bracket/enlarged the factory slit.
Also repaired 2 stripped top cover holes with inserts.
