They are…I’m not sure it provides any real benefit over an as-cast chamber other than the chamber volume is more consistent. In this case, Kaufman’s as-cast chamber is 65cc. I needed 85cc to make this thing happy on 91, so their 85cc offering is cnc machined.
How much less could you get by with for 93? Or some crazy 114 leaded?

I would have to re-run the numbers to see, but I would guess 80cc would have been perfect for that. In truth, I will probably be able to run 89 as my dynamic compression should be right around 9:1. If it were a race engine, I could go up to 13 or 14:1 compression and put a huge cam in it. I just wanted something that can could run on 91 pump gas and make 600+ ft-lbs of torque na. I asked the shop to gap the rings to handle a 200 shot of spray in case we decide to start playing at the local strip.

The cover has one screw, so definitely nothing that is on the list
