From what I understand, broken fins can lead to imbalance and later other issues (possibly air leaks). If it was one fin, I probably would not sweat it, but more than one, especially close together may create issues.

The magnets are scratched up as well, it was rubbing on the coil it looks like.

Yeah, best bet would be to replace it or you could chrome it

Don't know if they're the same but I've got an 026 flywheel.

I bet you could feel it at WOT if it was unbalanced enough to cause issue. If it does vibrate, maybe knock fins off opposite.

Part numbers differ, but not sure if that is just the model designation:

I received some parts today and got a start on getting my friend's Husky 61 back together. He said that he got it about 20 years ago after it was overhauled. In the last 20 years it has been heavily used and things were starting to break and it was really hard to pull over, luckily no scoring.

The trigger was broken, so, could not lock for starting. Bearings were getting gummed up and the flywheel side oil seal was falling apart. When I took the saw apart, I thought it had a small o-ring between the bearing and the oil seal...no, ends up that o-ring is the spring from the oil seal - the seal rotted and the spring is coated in crusty carbon to make it look like it was an o-ring.



The case halves are back together with new bearings, gaskets and oil seals. It spins really nice now.



This is the first saw I have worked on with a two-part coil. The wiring is old and some of the coating is cracking. Are there any good fixes without cutting the wire to replace it or slide on heat shrink? Would dabbing JB weld over those areas work or is there something better?
