The 80 was $250 and the 55 was $100. These machines were produced in the 80's to the early 90's and some parts are nla. However, some of the wear parts like the friction disk, honda still produces and stocks for $55. Many of the wear parts like bearings, bushings, belts, etc are everyday common sizes that are inexpensive. Ebay still has many nla used parts available and these machines are still in abundance all across the north. I plan to acquire one more of each over time just for spare parts.
my dream sno blowers just to expensive new,, and they want a lot for used,, but they do what they are supposed to to and do it best!!

They're definitely built to last. Just keep an eye out and one needing a little work for a deal will eventually come your way👍

Carburetors. A local shop was closing down and they were selling the carburetors they had collected over the years. I ended up with 44 of them. Some Holley, about 10 Edelbrock - mostly 1406 600 cfm, a bunch of Quadrajets (including one from a 1968 396/427), some Solex, some Weber, Autolite 2 bbls and a few 4100's, a Motorcraft or two, and several Carter AFB. I paid $500 for the lot and I've kept a few, given a few to friends, and I'm selling the rest one or two at a time.

Got a 440 mag on the bench and a husky 350 going back together. Guy said the 440 was hard to get started and the recoil was having issues. Finally told me he took parts from his 029 and swapped them into the 440 starter. It seems to hang up every couple pulls, I am assuming the starter pawls are different and that’s why it’s hanging up? Found a cracked fuel line and nasty filter so changing those out.

A perfect example of why I have never let anyone ever work on my vehicles or saws.

I was at my local Sthil shop today grabbing some parts and I over heard a “technician” calling a customer with bad news. He explained how he wanted to start with the simple stuff so he changed the filters and cleaned the carburetor. He said it would not run good after the tune up so he looked at the cylinder and it was scored bad. So he tells the customer to fix it properly it’s going to be $475, this is an 034. It’s a shame that people who do not know any better have to deal with this. You can’t peak at the cylinder before throwing parts at the saw or maybe even a compression test…disappointed.

When I see a saw with purple dyed plastics, chromed muffler and upside down bar I know who their tech is.
It's not purple, it's lavender, and running the saw upside down will let you know real quick when there is an air leak. Sheesh...just basic troubleshooting and saw operation...

Have a 029 super today, any concerns about these broken fins?
From what I understand, broken fins can lead to imbalance and later other issues (possibly air leaks). If it was one fin, I probably would not sweat it, but more than one, especially close together may create issues.
