Here’s my 075. Last of the parts came in , new top handle and a bunch of smalls. Some glamor shots before I put it back up on the shelf.

Well i got a dilema people. I may have the chance to get rid of my mint low hour 038 mag for a good buck but not sure what to do. I really like it but really dont know what to do. I really want to get a ms400 to try so if i did the money would go twards that.

You can always buy an MS400, you probably won’t find another 038 like that.

Thanks! It’s a really cool saw. I’ll be getting it back down soon to run it some more. I brought in some big logs. (22” is realistically as big as I can wrangle in 4 1/2’ logs).

I'd sell the 038, and never look back. Grab a more current saw. Better filtration etc...

That's the son of a MS461 and 038.
Cylinder design like 461 while the construction like old 038. Oil pump is from 462 I think? 52mm piston.

I like using my 038 quite a bit so I would lean towards keeping it. It would depend on how the saws are used ? If you want to cut trees and fire wood and feel like the 038 is too nice to put to work then the ms400 might serve you better.

Hmmm I must say there are 2 types of 382 cylinders. One is open port and one like the 461, front scavenge. The chinese had copied both types.

New clutch drum, clutch springs (whew!) for the 075.

Exit: 1 Catalyst (KAT) EA5000P. I opened up the inside as well. Already has a huge exit for a 50cc.
I’m also kitten the carb for him.
The trick was getting that big round peg out thru that small square hole. LOL

I'm with you! That has to be one of the worst mufflers out there. I did one and have another to do.

Gaskets and seals came in so started putting this 120si together. Should be pretty nice when done. Small break in flywheel case by carb adjustment but should be a real good runner.
