For a work saw I'd go with a Hutzl and mod it. Save the original can.

The baffle seems to be right in the middle of the muff so you have to get in there and grind away at it a bit.

The Hutzls are just an empty can.
OK, thank You for the insight.
I will leave the OEM muffler stock but ask my neighbor whether he wants me to get him an AM muffler.

I am trying to figure out what to do with this.

She supposedly cuts out mid bucking cut under load.
I guess I will have to mount a B&C on her and take her for a ride. :)
Curious to find out whether she'll start up.
Does it have the two piece ignition like a 288? If so it is usually one goes bad. Can't remember by flywheel or by carb part??

No idea, will have to look.

There is something in the AF box on the right side next to the carb, I will take detailed pictures tomorrow.

P.S.: Thank You for the hint!

That's the coil you need to check the ground screw for being loose/not making good contact.

Everybodys favorite saw. Good old mini mac. Fuel lines are rotton and figured i would pull carb and clean while apart. The intake gasket tore so gonna have to try and make one. Now im woried about taking the carb apart incase them gaskets tear too.
Dont see any kits on ebay either. Just whole carbs and for a lot more then i wanna pay.

I really think the Gov should require water pipe lines, any time Oil and Gas ones are installed, to move water from one part of the Country to another.

Seems we are getting into cycles of wet or dry here or there, on a regular basis. However, often when one place is having drought, another is being flooded.

IMO, the pipelines would make a lot of sense for agricultural purposes, sanitation, etc.
They talked about doing something like that here in Kansas and it got laughed at. They wanted to catch water off the Missouri river in the NE part of the state and pump it 350 miles west.

Thank You for the hint, will check tomorrow before running the 181 again.

It is my neighbors saw, he asked me to look her over due to erratic behaviour.
I generally do not mess with saws other than my own, but my neighbor also happens to be my firewood logs supplier so I agreed as a friendly gesture and hopes for further quality log deliveries.

It is an amazing piece a of machinery.
My Dolmar PS-550 looks big next to the Husqvarna 181SE - I expected the 181 to be much much bigger.
18" 3/8" B&C on both saws.

0407C0A5-A788-4F01-82E6-1C52783D6806.jpeg Wilhelm, I concur with dustinwilt68.... usually the upper sensor/trigger goes out before the coil. Is it was just irratic I’d say run it with the top off and watch around the sensor for arcing to a ground. I’ve seen that with a high rpm miss but yours may be more since it’s quitting then restarting when it’s cooled down.
