K.

I think I’ve almost got this one.

460mag holds pressure for a long time.

Flip the MityVac to vac and she drops down quick.
Pull the starter and it holds vac for hours.
I made sure the decomp was closed up..

Starts right up.
Made a few cuts, held Idle well.

Please enlighten me.

Is this a questionable seal?
If I hand it back to the owner will it fry?
As what MustangMike said change out the decomp and go from there.

If you suspect the decomp, why not just temporarily swap it out to see it that is the problem? (at least that is an easy swap).

Is it possible something was leaked when you sealed up the ports?

Were the intake boot and impulse line on the saw (are they old or new?)

If you blocked the carb, pressure/vac test the carb to see it is it the culprit.

Thanks a lot for the help man.

The DeComp has been swapped out for a new oem.

The fact that cycling the system gets it to hold vacuum or not is puzzling.
Perhaps I installed the seals cockeyed and it seats when rotated?

Could you give me an example of what you mean by ‘something was leaked?’
I lubed the shaft ala afleetcommand’s video.
I applied a light coat of 518 to the outside of the seals.

I’m using a stihl pressure tester fitting so the carb isn’t on the saw.
The impulse line and boot are new..

How would one test for leakage if the bugger holds pressure?

Anyone know someone nearby with some good ms460 mag crankshaft seals?

Where are you pulling vacuum from? Spark plug adapter or impulse line?

This lil beauty.

Pushes/Pulls threw the boot and plugs the impulse.
Sweet

Ok so im back at the bench. Been a lil bit. Workin on the 2159 that i had to clean the cylinder up on. 1 semi minor gouge below exhaust and pitting/ pin holes if u remember. Had bought a Cross P/C for it before i owned the saw. Ya i know.....CAD AND 4th of july HLS deals...... check this thing out. The warhawk P/C is light years ahead of this thing in quality. This is gonna be my starter head in porting. Doubt its worth the hassle to send it back for the $20. I really know y everyone preaches OEM now. The warhawk looks like a caddy comepared to this. The Cross is supposed to be Nikasil plated. I think its more like Dikasil plated:Dimage.jpgdecomp hole is 3 times the size of OEM. And 90% the size of tranfer port:Dimage.jpgimage.jpglook at that BOOGER! Just waiting to come off and trash some bearings! Lol! image.jpgSerious?image.jpg

Stihl makes oval Winter Filters that flow just great (wire mesh screen). I think they work well as long as you are not making milling dust. They are also very quick and easy to clean (I remove the filter and use a dust pan brush). I love em.
That's what I have on it.
