I’d rather have the old school flattop 066 or 064 than a 660 if I had a choice. They look better too.
That's why I have both. Lol. But I've just put a ms660 together with my port work and it's no joke my first one is a dog but not to bad it will still out pull my 064 and it's no slouch buy all means.

IMO, if it out pulls an 064, it is not a dog! I can like a saw if it is a good deal stronger than stock, even if it is not the fastest one on the block.
I ment to say a dog compared to the second one I put together and funny things is the first one has a meteor piston and cylinder and some port work done to it but I left some room for a later date. Lol. I haven't given up on it I'll mostly tare into it this winter and get real serious with it but that second one man that thing has some low end power it loves the 32" bar and chain and so do I. :beer-toast1:

Not necessarily Mason, 064s were known to have good compression and good timing #s, 660s not so much!
Agreed my 064 might be ruff around the edges but it gets the 32" bar and chain on it most of the time and it does good with it. I will share details soon I'm swamped with a couple 200t's and a shindaiwa. Get them darn thing's out of the way and back to my stuff. Lol.

Muffler has a nice big hole with a deflector on the fly side, so I made a blocking plate from the altoids tin to replace the screen. Mission accomplished! No more spewing on the case. I may never get the stain off. It is some nasty stuff...

I’m building a 044 from junk I wouldn’t use on a saw I’d sell. The only thing I need to finish it is a recoil starter pulley and to find a junky looking but useable clutch cover.
