Simple resistance heating, Pretty cool.
yup, simple as hell, I would think some chinese companies can make that resistance heathing elements......and for those who can't find 262xpg it may be a solution for them if they do the research.
Next up is to find a badly 346, 357 xpg handle bar and do the same surgery so I can check the inside of those also.
I have some plans the next weeks.........

dunno, i have to read through the 242 WS manual, it's the only place where they mention generator voltage.

Edit, 20 volt at 10000rpm on 242, but it count the same on 254 and 262.
So in general, 3.7-3.9 ohm and 20 volt elements.
I think rear elements is 1.4-1.8 ohm.
In total, 5.1-5.7 ohm.

i only sacrifice heathed handle where the elements are toasted. Dont ruin an handle bar who can be used Simon.

But yeah, if you do then lets us check how long those elements are..... 346 vs 262 lol

Maybe we can make a thread about heathed handle bar with some macro pictures, pretty sure there are many who is interested in this......

The elements could be easily repaired. Simply bypass the burnt section of element with a wire. My guess would be that most failures are going to be solder joint failures where the wires attach to the element.

soldier joint is pretty much where they fail, defently their weakest spot.
When the rubber start to crack open there and most people dont fix the issue it doesnt take long before they are toasted.
I had figured out I should post up the 262xpg handle since everyone over there crave for them, so people can see how simple they are and use their creativity a bit.

If we , Simon and me and others split them open and start to set up heathed element distance on different heathed bar I belive it may open up for lots of different solutions, ie, 357 can't be far off when it goes to 262.

I think I have one 362 handle I can sacrifice as well + one 254........

Put together a Husq 359 and was about to start it for the 1st time and the trigger jammed. Never paid attention that these trigger assemblies are sealed shut! I had gotten this as a box-o-parts project & figured the missing plastic end of the throttle rod was simply MIA. Popped in a good one and kept working. Yeah, I found that plastic end. That thing is a son-of-a-biscuit to get out of there. I epoxied the end to the good one before reinstalling for good measure.

I got one of those vac/pressure testers also, but have not used it or even taken it out of the box yet.

I cleaned up a scored MS440 jug today using Rany's method (did not have afternoon appointments, and the weather was fairly good). The piston fried (on the exhaust side only) because the Hi screw was only 1/4 turn out. Other than that, the saw looks in pretty good shape, so I don't think there is any need to test it.

Hopefully, all it needs is a new piston. The NKG plug in it looks like it has never fired. It is also missing the metal handle.

Mike as easy as it is to test why would you not on a saw of unknown history? Better to test and find a bad seal or something now rather than after you have it all back together and trying to get it running! Oh by the way check the flywheel key also![emoji41]
