Mel’s 034S piston after its maiden voyage.

Don’t really wanna go to work today. Had to pull muff anyway to install the timeserts.

FWIW, the roof was raised about 7*. It was board flat from the factory.

Any chance with that flat roof that it's an 034 Super cylinder? Mine that I sold to @trooney was like that.

Laying in the middle of the bench is my front toof.

The roots are still in my head.
It had a cavity in it and only hurt for a minute.

It was my wifes fault.
She broke the pass. side outside door handle on her 2002 Toyota Tacoma.
While replacing the bolts that are inside the door i dropped them at least 3 times.

So while holding my little rubber covered flashlight in my teeth i may have uttered a very negative opinion of the truck, door, bolts and design engineers i may have put a little pressure on a weak but otherwise working front toof.

It snapped with no immediate pain . Feeling a big chunk of something i spit it out across the driveway after grabbing the flashlight.

Now my flashlight gets between my remaining teeth And i can't direct the light very well.

041 is coming together. Squish is at 0.016. Waiting for the Dirko to dry so I am applying some reflective heat tape on the inside of the case around the cyl, the bottom of the heat reflector and bottom of the carb base.

I also trued the base of the plastic carb base that bolts to the cylinder and got some new stainless M5 cap screws and lock washers. Don’t want to have any issue with the base coming loose. Replacing every nut and bolt with stainless and using Red Loctite and lock washers. Don’t want to be hunting for bolts on the ground.

Looks very nice Mason, what is the SN?

What mods are you planning?

Does it already have the big (5/8") muffler outlet?
She is a 138xxx, not sure if original P/C or not but it’s a D cylinder. Arctic heated handle. Has the big hole under stock outlet and no baffle. It has a deflector welded on flywheel side. From what I was told Laslabjohn put it together, little exhaust port work and base delete from what I can see. Seems to run well in small test log, but need to get it in some bigger wood. Not a shiny psp “shelf queen” but a good “worker bee”.

Based on the SN and muffler outlet, I would say that saw is an original D jug. Sounds like it should run great with what he did. They don't need much.

I believe he and Keith collaborate on projects, good people, would be nice to meet them some day.

The one that "got away" and was a factory dp muff (an orig 046 Mag) SN was # 137... My other 046 was # 140... and was an anemic hemi (till it was ported).

My father has a #134xxx at his work that I think they probably purchased back in 90’s new. I keep telling him to bring it home so I can sharpen the chain and take a peak at her lol. It has original oem DP muffler cover I believe, which suprised me so I knew it was a early one.

That is what I think. I'll bet that saw your Dad has runs real well, one of the original D chamber 046 Mags.

Don't know if they upped the HP rating, but the 660 mags (dp muff) with 1/2 Hp higher.

The earliest 046 case I have is # 133 809 767.
