I have somehow three 346xpg oe in building, paid 60$ for them, one need new piston, else its the normal with new bearings, rings, etc.
This is the first one, 06 model, no gasket and 199 carb:

357 filter system on OE, This is where old-cat have correct in how badly everything get squished. This is how it looks without any modd:

Easy modd to give it some space to live, simply cut out some of the carb floor on each side:

Screwdriver fit now :)

Im deeply impressed at how little you managed to get the saws for Tor !! just seen a very average mk 1 make 215 pounds sterling ! to rich for me.
What did you do to delete gasket ?

I never wanted to have 346's lol, I prefer the 2xx serie.
First one, 07 OE, scored piston, I offered 30$ in a shop for it, and I got it. Cylinder cleaned up nice though.
The two 06 was freebies, both had decent c&p, bought one missing xpg handle for 25$ or something, so total is around 60$.
Squish is 0,018", used locktite 518 instead of gasket :)
Have enough 199 carbs so they will all get the full package.

The photography is wonderful !!
thanks, I just wanted to show an issue 346 OE have when we use 357 filter system.
This was something I read on AS, one thread old cat had where he pointed out the issue, it took me some time before I understood him, but hell, he had right in everything. Without doing this modd you can't use the screwdriver to adjust all three adjustment on the carb, and the bellow get squished badly also.
Funny was that Snelling couldnt see the problem ;)

Please feel free to send one to me if they are in your way !! after you have fixed it up of corse:D
Have bought some three bond to try out…just need the right saw to do a gasket delete on as i am a little unsure about a "full" deletion.
Have taken the squish on a Dolmar 115 thats seen better days ..comes out out at 0.45mm or about the 20thou so could work.

I would want it to work ,same as you.
Have a mk 1 346 …well some of it.. in a box. It drove me round the bend for weeks . Ran wonderful after a little in's and out's clean up and a muffler mod but i would come to start it another day and the idle was rotten ! or put it down during use …same could happen. In the end i just tore it apart for bits as i didn't want the hassle of using it. Weeks later i saw a thread on carb accelerator pump issues !!! Guess what..this had a accelerator pump carb . I put it down to that in the end. :(

Errrr, Nope . Only have some of the 346 parts left. It was indeed a Walbro carb, I was ignorant of the fact that they could use a carb with a Pump in them. My Stihl 361 is the only saw i have that has one in its carb that i new about.

My 40 Practica (1978 model) also start to be finished, left to start it up and to straight up the chain brake handle a bit, another freebie it was. This one is more for my collection, that said, I think it has potensial, but I kinda prefer 242's. All I have invested so far is new fuel line&filter.

Old ring, probleby the one she came with in 1978, still , impressive compression. I almost want to get a new caber to her and play with the squish a bit, to see how much compression she will get.......Part of me want to make it to be a runner...but I am tempted to really go in the dept of her.
Btw, this jug is closed port, unlike 44 Practica who is open port.

Love the look of the oem muffler:

I belive Walbro 154 was first generation, while Walbro 182 was second generation carburator to the 346oe. Later they came with Zama el 17-18.
Zama carbs is what all my 346xpg came with, they went to the trash bin.

Was one of the 2 Walbro carbs for sure…I have no idea if it started life with the one i had on it. Iv got 154 showing on 1999 and the 182 on 2001 still without primmer bulb .

that is probleby correct. They also changed the xpg handle around 04 or something.
I could pick spare parts as I wanted in the shop where I got most of my last saws from, so so I took 182 and 195 carb also, just incase one of my 199 shouldnt work.
I have 3×357xpg going on also, I dont stress with them, eyed out 2×262's, think both are 90 model ;) dunno if i get them or not.
