Sometime I love those Stihl dealers, he claimed it had a broken case mount, all I could see was loose AV's, 30$, tighten up the AV's, refilled her with fresh mix and she run nice and smooth.

Already taken her apart for cleaning, low hour saw, will invest in new clutch drum, 390 clamp, fuel line & filter, plug, ring, muffler bracket and some Husky glue ;)

Another problem I noticed on 346s . If your gonna run a 359 carb, switch the boot also. The 346 boots have t he metal ring inside the boot, and when you put 359 carb and filter holder on it pushes against the boot and causes the metal ring to cut the boot. Causing an air leak. Should switch out the boot anyway because the 359 is bigger, but I've had a few people want the 346 boot on it. Or you Could switch out the metal ring for a plastic one.

I use 346 boot, no ring. 359 air filter holder is longer compared to 346, to give it space I cut out the carb floor where the choke and kill switch comes out.

Both sides around the area where the switches are.

Thanks tor, I'll have to try that out. So no problems running without the ring 8n the boot? Would save me from buying a bunch of 359 boots.

That reseal almost totaled it out lol. Sounds like you don't like messing with the side by sides. I don't either, I have a cub 4 seater 750 I need to check the flywheel key on. They a shearing problem and No one in 80 miles wants to screw with them but us. Damn

346 boot fit better on the jug compared to 359 boot, without the ring it's as close as we can get for the bigger hda 199 carb.

Here is a bit better pictures where we cut in the carb floor:

This is before I start to cut in the carb floor...

And as you see, since the 357/359 airfilter holder is longer then 346 we will get conflict with the 346 boot.
_DSC2163.jpg

I cut on both sides until the airfilter holder bracket can move freely

Mounted with 357/359 airfilter holder and carb, 346 boot without the ring.

We haven't had to many side by sides come in yet. One of my co workers is kinda more the side by side mechanic. I work on them whenever a work order happens to come into my hand though.
