A surprise? A Simonds Royal Chinook is like hitting the lottery. An awesome find indeed, the whole lot of them. I'd be dancing in the street right now. Lol

They the wifes Dads/Uncles. And he probably used them, I also have the sets.
I guess I will have to use very secure mounting on them. When I found them I was thinking I could get $200 for all four,,the wife say put on the wall @ our cabin,,,guess they are going there. The wifes parents were raised in the 30s tossed nothing out,, they passed 30 years ago so I got some old stuff.

I'm not the end all know all of cross cut saws by any stretch of the imagination, but I will say this; I think when you find out the true value of what you have there,(depending on what the other three turn out to be) I think you'll be glad that your wife stopped you and did not sell them for 200 bucks. As a Royal Chinook in good shape will bring in some dough all by itself, those were some of the best crosscut saws ever made. Measure the tapered thickness ground into the blade from middle to end and top to bottom and you'll see why they have such favor still today, as the equipment to make them is long, long gone.

So I went and had a good look at the other three, 2 you cant make out, nothing on them, but the other double handled one is also a Simonds, but its almost unreadable, if I didnt have one to compare it you couldnt. And the name is only on one side, on both. It also has a different tooth pattern.

May not be OPE related, but gots to do some surgery on my college daughters' 17.3" HP Envy, touchscreen laptop. I always get stuck with the f'd up jobs. Then if it goes wrong, the ol' Jarhead gets the scapegoat blame run up his azz! Amazing how it works ain't it?

Mission accomplished on the college daughters' 17.3" HP touchscreen, laptop...I hate even thinking about f'n with these things. Every time something f's up, it's always 'take it to Dad, take it to Dad.' I don't mind screwing with this kinda stuff, it's just always a damn gamble whether or not I can fix chit like this. I run computers and software every day doing avionics/electrical/flight control checks on C-17's, but I ain't no neighborhood computer fix-it man if ya know what I mean.

The auto tune husky is getting picked up shortly after it was fed mix made from fuel and cactus poison, the 460 has been ported and rebuilt for a friend, the 044 has a dead crank and is getting fixed and ported, the 181 husky I have ported and rebuilt but it's got carb issues, a 661 in the back to be fixed and ported, an 084 waiting on a pull rope holder thingy, a blower to fix and an 084 body to be fitted with an 090 cylinder
