Forgot to reply to this mate, sorrywhat type gaskets do you use as crankcase gasket Tony?
I'm in hunt for some 0.3mm quality gasket
Hi Tony , you use 0.4 for case gaskets , whats the OEM gasket size normallyForgot to reply to this mate, sorry
Its Australian made and comes in .025, .04, 1.5 and 3mm
I use the 0.4mm for case gaskets and it works great.
A 1 meter length works out cheaper than buying those nasty cardboard farmertech gaskets at about $2 each

I am ordering a sheet of this to use for exhaust gaskets as well.

thanks tony , how thick can one go on a gasket before its too thickmost of the gaskets I have measured have been between 0.3 and 0.5
I dont know if each saw has a specified gasket thickness but I doubt it
I cut with mine today. I'm liking the pop-up, gives it a little more umph. 3/8 chain was a kinda grabby in hard maple but it was big gnarly stuff. Time for a 199 carb I think.[emoji4]I have a running 353, and one in a basket but mostly complete, they are sure a nice saw!!

I just measured a used OEM gasket from a 10mm 044 and its just under 0.5mmthanks tony , how thick can one go on a gasket before its too thick
Thanks Tony , that was the info i was after , what if , the saw leaks oil from the case after its rebuilt , with 0.5 gasketI just measured a used OEM gasket from a 10mm 044 and its just under 0.5mm
a couple different farmertech gaskets measure 0.42
Others I have used measured down around 0.3
I wouldn't go over 0.5 personally
It shouldn't.Thanks Tony , that was the info i was after , what if , the saw leaks oil from the case after its rebuilt , with 0.5 gasket
so new case ?It shouldn't.
If it leaks oil after a rebuild there is damage or the gasket is split
The issue with using gasket too thick is you start changing the distances between cylinder mounting holes, bearing clearances ets.
There is room to move but about 0.4 works fine.
I think husky gaskets are thinner at about 0.3
I will pm youso new case ?
Is that the wagon?Tomorrow it'll be Lindsey ' s Audi A6. Thermostat is sticking. *s-wordty thing about that is you have to disassemble the front clip and the accessory drives, so might as well do the water pump, timing belt, the whole shabang
