Doing an assessment on this super XL. Think with little more than a fuel system overhaul, it can be brought back to life.

I wish it was another 353, but it's a dirty MS250. Pretty much every nut, bolt, and screw needs to come out to replace the piston. Well, except for the bar studs.

I wait until i have several of those saws to do and do them at once it just makes it less miserable and depressing for some reason. Lol

I believe the circled X is just a proof mark, have seen it often.

Got another one of the MS460s running today, so now I'm out of recoils and clutch covers for them, so I will be ordering parts.

A large part of the clutch cover for this one was missing, so I did a repair, with some aluminum flashing and Loctite PL Premium. The aluminum is just to hold it in place, I'll bet this thing will be stronger than new, and it don't look too bad ... hey ... at least it still says Stihl on it!

I know, I know, i'm a cheap Bas**** with too much time on his hands, but I like fixin things!

That used to be the standard saw EVERY tree company used, and they are very durable. Other than that, IMO, you can keep em!

Got one of the tree guy's 066s running today, but the top cover needs fixin, the bar is bent and will be swapped with the other 066, and it needs a new sprocket.

So that is 3 of the 8 I have running so far, and all the rest will need parts as I have been robbing Peter to pay Paul, and none of the remaining saws are complete.

He told me I only had to get one 460 running for him, and I could take as long as I wanted with the rest of them, so I'm pleased to have 3 of them running for him in just a few days, including an 066. Also, the one 460 was just a parts saw, as it was crushed. Tank handle and all plastics were broken, plus no recoil or chain guard, and a broken cylinder. Already used the oiler & clutch from it, and hopefully the carb & coil are also good. I think the case & crank are also good, but don't think I will need them.

Plus, I spent a couple of hours with the Grandkids at the playground, so not a bad day!
