thanks Randy.
I'm the lucky one, I've learned more here then all the other forums combined!

we sure have a lot of fun my friend :)

I'm 100% sure that you have the H pump, the one I sized up now had a diameter on 19.5mm, plastic worm gear is 19.0mm. The older oil pump was something around 17.0mm if I remember correct.
Btw, those 154/254, they are kinda famous in Scandinavia.
This is the first 154 (have 254 for parts, has busted case) I have ever seen,,,that is why I bought it, it was at a flea market,, they guy wanted too much,, I waited until one time he could not start it,,, I said dead saw now, so gave him 1/2 of asking,,, took it home and turn the switch to on and it started fine,,,, The pump info you describe seems like my combination.
Well there is only sagebrush here, so once I receive the flywheel seals it goes to the cabin for testing.
I know someone who needs the gift of a small saw for his ATV.

On a compressed tank that old, any concerns with rust (compromised wall thickness)?

Nope, the tank itself weighs more than any complete modern 80 gal compressor built in the last few decades. Easily twice the thickness as anything made today.
I may be more concerned if I didn't know the history of it since purchased new.

Will do, how deep on the mika?
It's been a lot of years since I rebuilt a DC motor but I did heaps of them .

We used Dimond tipped bits to cut the copper back and were told to never take more than a thou or 2 per cut or it would gaul up

We then used these pneumatic tools that took these little cutting wheels. They were in different thicknesses to match the spacing of the commutator bars. These would be run down the slots to take out the mika insulation.

I made a v notching tool from one of the little cutting wheels.
This is sat with a point in a slot and pulled along the slot to bevel the edge.

The tricky bit is doing all this without slipping out of the slot and messing up your nice shiny copper surface.

Lots of scratches is called road mapping and ment we had to start again

The echo I posted about a couple days ago, its owner came to collect it today.

Started it up and he said it had never started or run that well since he bought it new almost a decade ago.

He gave me the money for the repair and we had a chat about fuel and oil etc

I told him the reasons behind why I had given the saw a touch of light porting to help air flow and what deleting the gasket did.

He had some fun picking up my 084 and 090

He went and put the saw in the car and wandered back up to my garage with a bottle of red wine in hand and said merry Christmas, shook my hand and took off.

I looked up the bottle of wine and they are $120 a bottle
