My car has 4 of them bastards. Only time I've pulled them is when I installed 4.44 gears

I'll wrap a chain around it and tie something heavy on it. Then I'll pop it a few times like a slide hammer.

Can't get the tractor to it Ross.

Might have a bit of spline wear . Turn it backwards and forwards and pull.

This particular saw was from a logger, and by the looks of it a ham handed one at that. I've learned these high mileage old saws(this ones a 1997) have warped the bar retaining area. So not only does it not hold the bar properly, the biggest problem is oil leaking out not getting to the bar rails as it should. First photo is after a few strokes with a file. Second is near cleaned up good to go. Simple thing but saves a headache down the road.

Currently rebuilding a Customer Rebuilt 660. Hmm, I wonder why. :bash:

New china crap repop cylinder and piston. Also a new china crap knock off carb. Didn't clean the saw, didn't bother to check the crank seals, reused the OLD head gasket. Mixed the gas at like 1:1. So, a ton of air leaks, to much oil in fuel, didn't bother to clean the saw so who knows how much crap was in the crank case. YEAH, GREAT way to BREAK in a saw!

Says he got the parts from Baileys. Talk about cheap junk compared to OEM. Saw has a total of 5 minutes run time. Didn't take long to blow it up.

Well, another $500+ and he'll have a good rebuilt saw. I don't feel bad. :hmmm:

Ok.....I got the axle out. @dall 's idea didn't work, inner cv joint just slid apart. :(

I pried on it with a 2' bar, no joy. Then I ground a couple of pieces of rebar to make a wedge. Just a few taps, and she popped right out.

Good going. I have a 1/2" x 3' metal rod ground into a wedge to get UTV axles out. Their hard to get to
