Keep it up wise guy. You'll be lucky to get me to run the cs670 against the 044.

Well after junking the 036 carburetor(warped), and rebuilding one from a MS360 the second time was a charm and she runs, seemingly pretty darn good for a first start up. Piss revved good and spooled up real fast. Still needs a couple small items dealt with when more parts come in, other than that, might have a runner here, we'll see when I get the right chain for it and do some test cutting.
So you asked for it to get done @Mastermind here it is, the loaner saw.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
Got a craftsman mower going today. New ignition module and good carb cleaning and she runs like a top.
Also have a KM90 with ignition issues. Customer complains it runs for 20 minutes and then dies. Well lucky fer him a new module is only $33.95 from stihl.

If it was mine I would split the case and clean everything really well. Ultrasonic does wonders if you have one available. Then I would start fresh from the bottom up. Take a good look at the bearings while your there.

Ya that's what I was afraid of. Another one for the project pile haha. Thanks Dan.

Got this 046 from a helicopter company. It was very neglected with a fried top end. Got it back together with some new and used OEM parts.
Failed the pressure test, have a leak where the case halves and cylinder meet. New gasket didn't solve the problem. Nothing has been modded and I doubt the case has ever been split. What do you guys think?

Picked up a non-running 365 x-torq and case/crank combo from Stihl dealer. 365 clutch side bearing and seal were toast, oil pump worm gear was melted. Split case, installed Nachi bearing, new gasket/seal set, Caber rings, worm gear, o-ring and oversized felling spikes. Removed transfer baffles to make it a 372 x-torq, opened muffler up at stock port. Used a thin base gasket, seems buyers here prefer not to hear base gasket delete.

372 started as an oem case and crank, split case, replaced bearing, gaskets/seals and just about every other part. Hyway piston and cylinder with base gasket (everyone I have purchased will not rotate without thick gasket), squish is at .019. Muffler has a few extra holes. Brush coat gaskets with MotoSeal before assembly on all saws and use blue Lock-tite on case screws.IMG_7402.JPG IMG_7400.JPG IMG_7399.JPG IMG_7405.JPG IMG_7410.JPG Waiting for an air filter holder, thought I had one, it was for an x-torg (my bad).

Purchased several parts from HL supply and ArborTec and must say both ship quickly, without mistakes.

So my 2nd 660 had a small piece of plating missing just above the exhaust,,,oh well.
Also one jug bolt was missing.
Today I may take the new to me 365XT and pull the transfer covers off and clean them up, may do a mm mod as well.
I also have two large bins of husky parts that need sorting and cleaning.
And then there is this snow accumulations outside,,,

Well the one saw needs a jug.
The other I reused the gasket and some ultra gray sealant, I have had good luck with it on lots of other stuff.
Some dont like using that stuff, I will see how it goes. It did seal up, still need to get a pto seal.

I considered using some sealant but I was gonna grind on it eventually and didn't wanna deal with it in the future. Mine is such a small leak it would probably wouldn't take much though.

FWIW The Sealant I use the gray. I used some on a metal oil pan ,,, bent it getting off later, so pretty strong, used on pan on my diesel truck, VW and lots of other cars,, no failures yet, always let it sit for 24 hours. On saw it was a very thin layer.

OEM specified. Permatex® Ultra silicones were developed to meet today’s technology changes. Sensor-safe, low odor, noncorrosive. Outstanding oil resistance and joint movement tolerance. Eight times more flexible than cork/composite gaskets; three times more oil resistant than conventional silicones. Temperature range -65ºF to 500ºF (-54°C to 260°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids and vibration.
