Tor, on my Dads 550. The head of that ground screw broke off and the heat didn't work. I still can figure out why the head would of came off.
The only thing I could guess is when it was assembled they tighten it so much that it was just about sheared and just fell off from time.
youre not the only one with broken screws on them, I broke one generator screw right off.
It's harden steel, the only way I could get through one gen screw on another saw was with carbide burr, I've left to do it better on the saw that it mather on.

If you can't get the screw out, there is another way to ground the xpg system.
There is a free ovale spot on the carb floor, buy that rubber who is made for that spot, lenghten the ground wire and attach the grounding to one of the 4 carb floor screws.
AT is also attached on one of those screws :)

My old neightbour came and dropped this one of for maintanence, he complained over some carb issues.
He has worked most of his life in US, this was the saw he used over there._DSC3203.jpg

First time I see one, anything I should pay attention on those saws?

Those old Mac's are pretty hearty @Tor R , like any saw the usual fuel issues are the norm. If it has spark and compression should be a fairly simple proposition. Would recommend as with any saw of that age doing a crankcase pressure and vacuum check just to make sure the seals are still holding. Put a good sharp chain on it and hang on, those things cut like the dickens.

Log splitter build !
Cement mixer donor for mobility.
Splitter is into 2) new 12" 4 bolt wheels, 2" receiver, soon to be, hub bearings & the rest.
Who makes a solid cylinder, engine, ram etc.? We're looking at mostly
16"-20" eastern nj hardwood splitting here for the build.

I have the whole winter on it, will do vac/preasure test on his saw, if I understood him it had spark
It's more a symbolic value for him, but it would be cool to set it up so he can use it and dream back to his younger age in US.
I fixed one Husky 450 for him tonight :)

@Tor R , Even if you do have to change the seals, it is not that hard of a job, just more involved time wise, as everything needs to come off, to get at the little engine inside, basically that's how they were built a little engine with a saw built around it, is about the best I can describe it. You get done with that one and you're going to want one for yourself. Haaha!

I had my 850 build on sawhawgz. Probably have to dig through archives to find it now. Eccentric is an excellent source of info on these.C__Data_Users_DefApps_AppData_INTERNETEXPLORER_Temp_Saved Images_FOTA7DB.jpg

Guy brought in a Stihl MS360 this afternoon, said it just won't go. Fuel was leaking out the carburetor throat and was filling the crankcase. Clamped off the fuel line and drained the tank in a clear glass jar, about a 1/2" or more of water on the bottom with debris floating on top of the water, and on the bottom of the fuel. Replaced carburetor with a brand new one, as well as the fuel filter and line, fouled spark plug replaced as well. Cleaned the tank and pulled out as much of the fuel from the crankcase as possible. The remaining fuel helped keep the engine going after the initial fire and the cab primed and took over. Put the chain a lap through the grinder lubed the sprocket nose and drum bearing. Will adjust carburetor in some wood in the morning.
