It's their weak spot, I'm not sure of it's the con rod bearing who is too weak or if it's the uneven crankcase halfs who doesnt line up everything 100%, or if the strato play a part also.
I have no problem with a lean scored saw but it always make me nerveous when those cranks get blown.

Tor...I Think Randy has a Very plausible theory in that the bottom end is not getting as much oil as it could need . 50.1 may not be enough with some of these saws.

They run too lean......then recommend a 50:1 ratio.

Has anyone here ever tried taking saw cranks apart before? I know it's not standard procedure, would seem someone would give it a go though. On larger two strokes it's not even a second thought to change the bearing and save the crankshaft. So is it just economic factors weighing in here?

I made a jig to do 066 cranks. It's time consuming to get rid of the run out.

Never done it myself, does sound intriguing to me though, a cousin of mine "sets" the cranks in a lathe with a lead hammer.

So I guess my question of the day would be, where would a person source the bearing, if it's not supplied from the manufacturer?

there is a few companies who do that type work, the price tag I got wasnt bad at all in Norway.
If I first go that path I defently want better bearing then what Husky has used.

Sometime when you have an extra minute or two, could you post a picture of your jig? Kind of interested in what you have. Guess that makes two questions.
Stump if you press one apart how about some pic,s my press wouldn't press a 385 apart but I dident have a good way to hold it.

Next time my cousin comes over for coffee, I'll ask him to let me in on his voodoo crank work and do up a thread on it. I'll also ask what he holds the crank with, all I can remember being on his press are lots of different blocks of heavy steel.
