461s??? Never mind, I see a 660! Mixed bag?

Two for one customer, and one for another. I peeked into that 066 we are dealing on. Not ported.......yet. I'll port it as a milling style saw for you my friend. :)

Got handed a Stihl 038 Magnum a mate got from the rubbish dump for nothing today.
Looks like a tree fell on it and its been sat out the side of a shed in the sun ever since.

Opened it up and its like new inside, just dirty.
Original clutch and drum like new, just a touch of surface rust.

Handle is bent, tank handle is split and warped.

Whats peoples opinion on the Bing carb........ savable?
I am thinking I may hit it with some WD-40 and fine steel wool and see how it comes up.

Anybody ever fooled with one of these? Worth rebuilding?View attachment 39454
Yes. Fix it. Those are good saws. Worse thing about them is a mile long fuel line that takes about ten pulls to start cold. Those micros and the S25 series are some of the best top handles ever made.

Local Craigslist ad for 3 free chainsaws for parts to a good home. I had to drive about an hour away but it turned out to be a good score. All 3 had rusty bars and chains and looked like they spent some time outside. Guy said one of the huskys ran 'a couple years ago.'

This 257 was the most complete. I got a new plug for it but the old one looked good. With the new plug, I mounted a bar and chain, filled up fuel and bar oil and she fired up on the 3rd pull. The fuel tank cap was a little leaky so I put on a non-era correct rancher cap and it works like a champ.

The craftsman has a broken pull cord and the quick adjust chain tensioner is stuck so I haven't poked around on it yet.

The 455 rancher is missing the clutch cover and has something different where the rim sprocket goes. Maybe it was running some sort of belt driven attachment? I put the plug from the 257 in and fuel/oil and it fired up on about 10 pulls.

Anyone have a 455 rancher clutch cover they could spare for sale?20161105_180130.jpg 20161105_175355.jpg 20161105_175829.jpg 20161105_175252.jpg

It doesn't take a rim sprocket. That is what it is supposed to look like when a saw doesn't take a rim sprocket. Nothing out of the ordinary there. When it gets worn out you replace the whole drum, or get a drum that takes a rim sprocket next time. Good score! Especially the 257. I dig the 2 series Husqvarna saws myself.

That's a cool street sweeper looks like ur ready to clean off the local race track

Thanks, I was a little afraid that no one would get it. Back when I first went to work for a RedMax dealership they had some grey T Shirts that said "Blow This!" in big letters on the front. On the back it had a picture of a RedMax blower. It was our most popular shirt, we sold cases of them, can't get them anymore, I guess someone must have been offended. People have no sense of humor anymore.

Most of my day has gone to sort out things.
Got a few xpg parts I thought I needed to my 550 xpg - 13, that was something I ordered before I got a batch off them, nice looking saw need new parts now and then anyway.

Cleaned and inspected and its placed to the side for later rebuild. Both had blown crank, have one spare so I'll build one of them this winter, the other one will just wait for a good crank.
