361 on the bench. Got it all together lastnight. I adjusted port timing a little in it. 102, 128, 77. Ran a couple tanks through it today and it was really impressive. When I first ported it, seemed like a lost some of the torque. So I took the thin gasket out of base and took .015 out of band. Also gave it 2 more degrees of intake. Ran 2 tanks through it and was going great then on the third it started making like a popping sound. First 2 tanks it made it every once in awhile, but thought I was just hearing a little 4 stroking. Then on the third tank it got very noticeable so I shut it off and grabbed another saw. The first 2 tanks were about 45- 50 degrees out then the 3rd was 65 or so. I did advance timing in it. So does this sound like a timing issue or something else. I've never really had a saw do this. It's like a pop/ ping noise. Piston and cylinder looks good. What you guys think??

346 xpg - 06 OE, was a freebie, my costs has been new seals, fuel line, gasket kit, ring and a few minor things. It's not a pretty saw, but everything works 100%.

What is your final squish measurement? I'm thinking compression here. Also does it do it at idle or under acceleration or WOT? If it seems a bit tight, might try putting a gasket back under it possibly.

Squish is .020. Does it at wot when your up in the higher rpm. I haven't checked comp yet. But I'm thinking maybe it's the ignition advance. Pre detonation . I'm running 89 octane with 40/1 with hp2.

Even his freebies have heated handles, ditto on the suckage. Nice score Tor R. :)

Well...he is fairly close to the... "Pole"
They all use XPG's in Norway, it's not always because it's cold, but customers only pay 30$ extra for the G.
Back on the good old days when Husky made real saws there was a shop close to me who sold 80% pro saws, all those saws where 254XPG, I got to hear it from another dealer.

You suck![emoji41]

My buddy Tor is a saw magnet[emoji6]
I got good friends Mike and Dan, this one came to me from a close friend, the third 346XPG he has trown down in front of my door :)

268xp everything but crank bearings 260 3500 3450 365 335 3x s25da

Test 3 for psi and was shocked at the psi on the stock 3450.

3500 pulled 160psi and my rebuilt 365 with the old scored cylinder and new piston kit pulled 150psi

The new 3450 pulled 180psi.

Think I saw 185 but went back to 180.

OK, can make better sense of this now. I would agree with your pre-ignition diagnosis. Either back off the advance a bit or try high octane fuel would be my line of thinking. Should be able to lock flywheel down even if not up against the key, to give it a try and see.

Gets pretty cold here when old man winter comes a calling, yet "G" saws are as rare as hens teeth. When someone I know is thinking of buying a new saw, I remind to think of the heated handle option $50-$60 US. I get the same reply over and over "I could buy a lot of beer with that". :godsdrink0nw:

we pay about 1000$ for 560 XP, and 1030$ for 560 XPG. It's different in Sweeden they have to pay 100-120$ extra for the G.
If your guys had started to push Husky to provide same deals with XPG your guys would got them, US is a huge marked.
But I also think we have this deal is because of the volume XP vs Semi pro saw and also the demand for XPG saws,
Most dealer doesnt take in 550XP and 560XP in Norway.

Huge, I believe if my memory is working properly, 80% of the Husqvarna groups world market share is in North America. Probably the biggest problem in my area is home owners are the lions share of the business. Not enough Pro users to court any more. My how times have changed.
