The exhaust regurgitation system (lol) on those engines overheats the piston.

Likely that contributed to this failure, no matter exactly what went wrong. Excess heat is never good.

All of the ports look properly beveled to me, but I will check them carefully when I clean the cylinder.

On, off and right back on bench today. stared up and running OK, but when I started to wood tune it, about as many chips flew out the side as did the bottom like is supposed to. Have to repair hole in clutch cover. Doh! Otherwise might be OK. Having hard time warming up to this saw for some reason. Maybe because it looks like a big orange can of ham, might have something to do with it.

To confuse matters worse, this is the saw I'm waiting for the Australian Archer brand chain to be delivered, maybe it will come tomorrow. So with a chain from down under, which way do I put the bar on then?

The right way up but then the chain will be upside down he he

I got the 394 cylinder ported today. Had to go back in and raise exhaust.

My buddy came over and we had to tighten his steering box. It was loose and popping when you turned.
