That'll be a good pair there!!!
That's the way I do it. Only I measure from the squish band with a micro ruler. TDC with a degree when can have its disadvantages when you consider dwelling distance trying to center it perfectly each time.there is a timing wheel on the 242, @David Young had a nice thread about linear measurement, both ways is what I will do
Here is the links for how David find timing numbers without using timing wheel:

Not sure what those machines are, but it sounds good. Not even sure if this is even going to be a thing for me, that was the first one I ever did. Maybe I'll do another and see.
Here's how it ran when I sold it. Now it is back for what I'm assuming will be a carb rebuild after using ethanol low grade.Nice!!
I recieved one as clean as that for free as the Steal dealer said it was too old to work on.
Needed a fuel and impulse line, I did a MM, very nice saw.
The saw had come from the prairies,, someone had ground the rakers completely off!!!

I dont mind to use the degree wheel, but I also like to use David's linear measurement also, special on small jugs like the 242.That's the way I do it. Only I measure from the squish band with a micro ruler. TDC with a degree when can have its disadvantages when you consider dwelling distance trying to center it perfectly each time.
Bought this one on ebay Germany, got it in pieces. (unfortantly custom office where on work (as always))

I think there is hope for the jug... luckily I'm picking up a new oem piston tomorrow

nah, if he had crossed the form as gift it would gone fine, but it was my own fault, I should had guided him.The customs just do theirs work , you buy a saw 300 and you must pay another 300 customs![]()
That piston is still very usable after a little clean up if the saw is a keeper.Bought this one on ebay Germany, got it in pieces. (unfortantly custom office where on work (as always))

oh yes it's an keeper, I like several Huskies but 242 is my favourite. That piston is still very usable after a little clean up if the saw is a keeper.
It looks like a fuel slug got caught on the way out and cooked onto the piston.oh yes it's an keeper, I like several Huskies but 242 is my favourite.
It look for me that it is carbon score.
What do your guys think?

7 kg package without any value or gift marking they all get stopped at the customs.
That said, I didnt buy the project for 300€![]()
