I could see that under the piles of chainsaw parts...used to be my tablesaw![]()
Every now and then I need to cut something...takes me a day to transfer crap and re-wax the tableI could see that under the piles of chainsaw parts...
You doing anything with the plastics?Cleaned up real nice. Has spark and the fuel tank is as clean as new. Needs a new AV mount (I guess that’s it) at the bucking spike. Haven’t kitted the carb yet but I may have to pull on it firstView attachment 454050
Nope, putting them back on. Washed up real good. Cylinder cover is washed out but it’s sound. Air filter cover looks new. I put some fuel in it, primed it and gave it a few pulls. It started right up and kicked down to a real high idle when the trigger pulled. Ran it for about half a minute then decided enough for now. Found out the kill switch doesn’t work. Tried the choke and that wouldn’t stop it either. This thing is just running its as off and I can’t stop it. For just a moment panic set in, the fuel hose was very soft and flexible so after tugging with no result I squeezed it together for the time it took the engine to stop. Keep in mind it’s getting faster and faster the leaner it gets. Man, note to self. Test STOP switch. You doing anything with the plastics?
Craziness! And you were probably thinking it'd be luck if it ran at all.Nope, putting them back on. Washed up real good. Cylinder cover is washed out but it’s sound. Air filter cover looks new. Lol, yes I can see the panic if the switch and choke don't stop the saw. I guess you could always pull the spark plug wire if needed! I wonder if the carb was stuck wide open on the inside with a crispy diaphragm?Nope, putting them back on. Washed up real good. Cylinder cover is washed out but it’s sound. Looks very much like a McCulloch, but not a McCulloch D-44. That is a cool looking saw!First saw on the new bench. Sears D-44.

Spark plug wire covered up, two studs sticking up from intake opening and half a tank of gas. I don’t think the carb was stuck open, but I’ll look closer. I was very surprised when it took off.Lol, yes I can see the panic if the switch and choke don't stop the saw. I guess you could always pull the spark plug wire if needed! I believe it, I was pulling on a saw I thought for sure was not going to run, but it fired up, scared the crap out of me!I was very surprised when it took off.
