Got it together. Ran it. Still not very happy about the bearings. Feels like it has a little radial bearing slop still, even though these new bearings and crank came off a different saw that felt tight. I’m gonna just bite the bullet and buy new OEM bearings I guess.

So they're going in tight and then getting loose when you run it?

Bearcat 550 widetrack wood-hauler got a fresh crank from northern crankshafts. They split the cranks and install all new koyo main and rod bearings.

The forged wiseco top end was nice n all, but no need to fkn half-asz it. Time to split those cases!:

What’s a good process for cleaner a 661c/arctic without goofing up the confuser?

I would bet that stuff is more protected than we would think. For Stihl to put something in a chainsaw they would have to expect it to get dirty and beat up and washed even. In any event I think brake clean or mineral spirits w/compressed air would do it. Almost like dry cleaning. lol

On my bench. 090 cylinder head that had an exhaust stud broken off in it. I had to cut it out on the end mill and fill it back in. The plan from here will be to install one stud and set the gasket on it to locate the other hole, then drill and tap the new hole for the stud. I send along some more pics as I finish it up.
It is a perfectly good, low time cylinder otherwise. IMG_7589.jpegIMG_7590.jpeg

The only available AM bearings for that saw aren’t very good, never have been. OE price isn’t ridiculous, imo. They rarely go bad according to Lonewolf

Seal off anything that would allow water into the cyl. Setting up for a pressure/vac test works well.
Disassemble as much as many extraneous parts as possible.
Swap a plug in for the decomp.
Drown it in Totally Awesome! from the Dollar store, let soak for a while and hose it off. Repeat as needed. Compressed air to dry most of it. Reassemble and run to heat things up and burn out any water that might have slipped through.
