Got a buddy's dolmar ps6400 on the bench. After a bit of back and forth about how I have a boat anchor already and its extra for the cleaning service. He convinced me to port it for him, any advice or direction on where I should go with it would be appreciated. From what I'm reading there are a few big bore options and an unlimited coil? If I end up using the factory cylinder, am I aiming for numbers closer to a 036/034 or 044?
Waste of money to port the 6400 topend when a 7900 cylinder can be had for less than most porters charge for a portjob and possibly gain more than a 6400 portjob. This is one of those scenarios where it just makes more sense to get the upgraded cylinder… then port that. Lol

And don’t get me wrong the 6400 is a good reliable/solid firewood saw… they are strong for 64cc. The price point they sold at was good for people who wanted just that. But come upgrade time… most people just swing for the factory big bore. The 6400 chassis is a good platform since it has the higher rpm coil to start.

This is my 2 cents for what they are worth. It really depends on the budget but the aftermarket big bores are not a terrible option either. I have one of each 7900 is a little stronger but big bore is significant gains over 6400. 7900 cylinder is 2-3 times cost but not twice as much power. As far as unlimited coil I don't notice much of a difference if tuned right my personal preference is oe starts slightly easier than the unlimited swap.

Did you say selling? @blackbruin
Okay I may sell this if someone here wants it speak up. This is a buddies saw and I am helping him out. Decent shape from what I can see so far piston and cylinder wise. Has a ton of compression, it is a pop up piston. Muffler is dented in a little and it needs a couple screws. Old made in Canada Oregon bar.

Since the 440 I posted above is going to take a lot of work, I'm going to make another another 034/440 hybrid alongside the 440 and make it a 440/046 hybrid. I painted the front of the 034 case a couple of weeks ago so it's cured enough to get going on it.

192t a buddy owns. Said it never ran right.. Flywheel side bearing locked up, spun in the pocket and chewed the pocket out along with the seal. Coil was loose, hitting the flywheel and chewed the coil mounting studs up. Muffler was loose and beat the mounting flange to hell. Im surprised it even ran let alone didn't torch the top end. Pretty sure it just became a parts saw

Got a 120 and 120si on the tailgate tonight. Trying to figure out how to put a 120 super top cover on the 120 and waiting on case gasket and seals for the si. Did a little grinding on the 120 exhaust port to get rid of a chip in cylinder where piston met it a little hard. Curious if it will increase or decrease performance.IMG_20211211_194246353.jpg IMG_20211211_194059060.jpgIMG_20211211_194428868.jpg

This guy again...
Fuel system flush and rebuild (carb kit, line, filter, etc.) about a year ago and was never paid for or picked up. Same customer needed something else worked on so I reminded him that it was still here.
Said he didn't "need" it anymore so I could keep it if I'd fix his other POS.
Turns out the POS he dropped off needs a couple hundred more in repairs that it's worth. Now of course won't answer phone or respond to voicemails.

I don't do much of this anymore but I think from now on if I do I might ask for a deposit upfront...
At least enough of one to cover my time.

I've screwed myself each time I worked for someone like that. I won't work for them. Eventually you find out, others won't do business with them either.
