Michael's art store sells oil based paint pens, and I'm no artist, but a pen I can handle.
It's nice to be able to do the yellow and red/black lettering on McCulloch and homelite saws.
I'm gonna look into that aluminum black thought it looks sharp.

View attachment 317732 On my saws I like the gunning line to be black, and painting them black doesn't seem to last...or turn out looking crisp so I tried another process using Birchwood Casey aluminum black, its a acid that is used in gunsmithing. I sand the face edge of the raised gunning line till all the aluminum is shining, and lightly warm the clutch cover with a heat gun. Once its really warm to touch, I use a Q-tip dipped in the acid and one or two swipes on the warm exposed aluminum turns it BLACK..and I've found it very durable. I've never painted one that had such crisp edges..and I've tried many times. It also works like a champ on the STIHL lettering.
What’s the funny blue thing by the tuning holes?

Well the tricky part if its really tricky at all is the fitup into the carb screw so there's no slop..and then every model is a different length, and the rubber boot holes are different sizes. Anyhow I've ironed the bugs out from the prototype I sent Kevin a while back, no longer using surgical tubing on the shaft to get a snug fit, now I'm using shrink tube and its mobetta. And the shaft is threaded and the knob is also so the length can be adjusted to the particular saw.

I ran it for a tank on my hybrid and it stayed in place perfectly

The krinkle finish on those covers looks great! How does it do against gas/oil and the elements?

Its Mopar valve cover paint, so better then the industrial stuff for tractors. It will bubble up if there's a leak in a seam under it but wont crack or peel.

I have about a half dozen saws to try to get running, Husqvarna 455, 460,359, Poulan 306A, McCulloch 3200, Homelite Super 2, Homelite Super XLAO. I started with the Husq. 460, which needed new piston rings. Got it back together, it's got good compression but still won't start without a prime. It runs until the primer gas is gone then it quits and won't start without another prime. BTW, all these saws are ones that other people quit on or didn't want to mess with...
