The flywheel could be the problem for him. I have the China coil on my saw you sent me to build and it’s working fine for now. I wouldn’t sell it with that on there but it is working.Symptoms sound as if you have a one piece coil flywheel with a two coil set up. I've used a couple of the chinacom two piece kits and honestly have worked well. I should have a pic saved of the two different key positions on one and two piece flys. Let me try to find the pic. You helped me out on the 020 parts awhile ago.

Yard Machines 8/26 is getting a service, new skid shoes, carb rebuild and a good used starter.
Murray 14.50/29 is getting an impeller mod, service, new recoil rope and grip, and a set of tire chains.
Craftsman single stage got a new carb
Exmark Commercial 30 is getting a new carb and throttle link spring.
My new to me Ariens 724E is going to be getting a service and a set of belts.
Thursday after work I'm doing a road service on a Craftsman 24" two stage snowblower.

2051 p/c on a bunch of 2054 parts in the mix
Somebody stripped muffler bolt holes badly and replaced with 5/16 hardware bolts .
I will see if it runs tomorrow.
