I know not to use it on clamshell saws due to a video I watched by @Mattyo . I have had good success with MotoSeal.

Just for clarity ... loctite 518 anaerobic is no good metal to plastic. Metal metal or metal rubber is ok. Just need clean surface.

For the 350 base I use threebond 1184 ...which I think is similar to motoseal. It seals between the metal bearing cap and the plastic chassis.

Carry on gents!

Thanks for that clarification Matt, I did not know that. The Stihls I work on (440 - 460 - 660 and clones) are always metal to metal.

I haven't used the permatex stuff yet, no need to but I think I have it. I've made the mistake with loctite 518 though, on the clamshells that are metal/abs plastic joint, ya need something that grabs the plastic. dirko, yamabond, motoseal, threebond 1184 all should work. anaerobic has one other issue and that its set time is much longer. I would not recommend running a saw until 24 hours cure time. ... seen that issue recently.

There is no set time on the tube, and I ran this saw 2 hours after locking down the jug (just enough time to put everything else back together … carefully!

She seems fine. Others have told me there is no set time on it???

had one that seemed fine for a while... when it locked up, the only thing I found was the anaerobic wasn't set under the jug, and there WAS an air leak... base gasket delete saw. milled base on the head, so it was FLAT ... still leaked due to the anaerobic not being set MOST LIKELY due to it being started too quickly after it was put together. I think if it had sat for 24 hours, then started, it probably would have been fine

I would speculate that either some dirt or oil got on either the bottom of the jug or the base and ruined the seal. The only one I've had leak was not properly cleaned. I use brake cleaner (Per Randy's advice).

Final test run/tweak/cleanup on the 345. Turned out awesome. Doing some cleaning in the garage later.

Last thing on my bench is a plastic Homelite Super 2 which I got running yesterday but can't get it to shut off without using the choke. I checked the switch and the wire and deducted the problem is a broken wire inside the module. I have another module here somewhere so I'll try it next. I have other, better saws needing fixed but am still waiting on parts for them...
