Gave the 270 a run after cleaning it up and destroyed some softwood.
I'm not used to cutting northern hemisphere softwood (Radiata Pine) she was hungry a little to hungry couldn't clear the noodles at all lol
I recon you could cut that sponge cake timber all day without the chain going dull any wonder guy's only tap there filter out once a month there isin't even any dust! lol
We don't get chips like this in our native timbers here even our pine.
Saw is running.404 the chips were massive still holding together not splitting into left and right cutter chips and as for noodling no hope of clearing them.
Probably common cutting softwoods but oh well I found it interesting I don't get to cut softwood very often.

I did a lot of powder coating over the last 2 days in between working on weedeaters and doing some landscaping around the house. Pretty time consuming with only a toaster oven to heat parts in.

Husky 345 that got a base reseal, metal intake clamp update, muffler support addition, carb kit and service. Also got a complete cleaning. I'll have it running in a day or two. I've had good luck with letting the MotoSeal cure for a day or two before running.

An Asian Big Bore was on my tiny bench today. Replaced the pristine New West Big Bore piston with a lighter OEM 460 piston then replaced the jug with another New West Big Bore that had better port timing #s and I recently ported.

The pic is the used piston, and I did not clean it at all!

Popped on the 8th pull and ran nicely.

All back together minus top cover and bar/chain. Again, just need to let it sit for a couple days to let the MotoSeal cure fully. I'll post video once it's running.

Just picked up a dirty 026 Pro for $100IMG_20200405_192212.jpg
She looked like crap but when I saw her in person there was great compression and the cylinder and piston were immaculate IMG_20200405_191220.jpg
All she needed was a new muffler and a deep cleaning. Some simple green and 00 steel wool on An orbital sander took care of all the grime on the plastics and 120grit got all the rust off the barIMG_20200406_160026.jpgIMG_20200406_170304.jpg
Now all that's left should hopefully be putting on a muffler and maybe giving the carb a quick tune. If anyone has a link to the simplest down and dirty idiot-proof muffler mod I can do to open her up a bit I'll be ready to start flinging chips in no time!

Nice, what sealant did you use?

I'm using the Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker #518 (the large tube is 51813). I would not use it on clamshells, but when your cylinder has a full flat mating surface it is great stuff. Just make sure it is very clean first, I always use some brake cleaner before putting it together.

You don't need much of it, and the excess can be wiped or washed away (it never hardens if it is not compressed).

I know not to use it on clamshell saws due to a video I watched by @Mattyo . I have had good success with MotoSeal.

I did a cut in some Red Ironbark with the 270 Canadien same chain as above I changed nothing.
Heres a pic of the difference in noodles and chips compered to the Radiata Pine.
Chain was smoother and cut more efficient in the hardwood and no problems clearing chips/noodles ya can keep ya softwood lol
