I think made in America died with Homelite and McCullough as far as chainsaws go.

No, Stihl is making some of their models here in the USA. While my 462 was made in Germany, my 261 and 362 were both made in USA.

USA S/Ns start with either 2 or 5. However, the carbs are all made by ZAMA in China!

Yes Mike, I am aware of that but the parts on the saws certainly aren’t all American like the old homelite and mac’s.

They don't make the parts here I don't believe but they assemble the parts.

That’s interesting, I believe the last one had a KS jug. Much noticeable difference in the two? Going to be cool to run them side by side and see how they compare!
This is my KS jug n slug. Notice the wings on the piston.3E86BE80-B6B2-4831-8862-F1BED6E0DA52.jpegShanes mahle jug n slug. No wings on the piston2BB078CE-38D3-4FB1-BD55-FF1A62E3C6D5.jpegE590A038-4CF1-4176-A4DC-20C72B0B4B68.jpeg Easiest way for me to show the difference in the ports was to stencil each jug. The port timing was almost identical and the combustion chambers appear very similar in size. The KS squish band is tapered but not nearly as much as the mahle. The port shapes imo are nicer on the KS jug. The transfer tunnels in the KS jug don’t appear to be quite as curved as the mahle. In stock form I would think the KS jug would be the better runner. After porting it’s a toss up. Hopefully I answered some questionsFFFED27F-6C87-46CF-91E8-FD2DA5CDA916.jpeg
